hi guys, does anyone know how to safely disable the srs system so i dont pop my fancy new ek9 steering wheel hitting a cone/barrel at gymkhana? given the option id rather replace just a front bumper.

Dont risk personal injury over an ek9 steering wheel. Some advice is to get a normal srs ek steering wheel which is cheap as. bolt on and will plug straight in.

the ek9 wheel is already on the car and i would rather not have to touch it. the gymkhana track is relatively safe but i have hit cones and barrels in my previous cars. i dont wanna throw away a $400 wheel because a nudged a barrel.

disconnect the srs ecu or airbag like mokkhi said.

As said above

Disconnect battery for 10 mins , then remove steering wheel airbag module.

i doubt a cone will set off the airbag.

cones are ok. ozgymkhana in their great wisdom use barrels too. they've made a mess of some of our friends cars.

Disconnect the battery come back in 15 minutes.
Disconnect the passenger side should be underneath the centre console/climate control.
The srs cables are colour coded yellow and have yellow clips that you gotta pull back to take it off.
You'll figure it out.
You'll need a star looking alan key to get to the steering wheel srs plug.
Leave it unplugged..
Note your horn will not work and your srs light will be on.
