Starter motor?

Hi guys

I found a 2005 dc5 luxury model that was originally gonna sell for 9.5k but now he's dropped it all the way down to 6k for some odd reason. It has 162,000 kms on it, manual, stock engine. The only negative thing i can see with his listing is that rego expires in 2 weeks, it has no plates and that it needs a new starter motor. Anyway my question is does this sound dodgy or anything? And how much does it cost to replace a starter motor?
