im having troubles installing my air fuel ratio
i cant seem to find the right wire to tap into. ive searched heaps of sites, mostly american ones and they say i need to tap into the sensor which is the red/white one.
i have checked a few diagrams of the ECU and it says that the wire is suppose to be there, yet when i check on my car the slot is empty. All the wires around it seem to be there so either mine is missing, or its somewhere else.
my car is a 99 civic coupe vtir
here is the diagram im running off..
http://www.ff-squad.com/technet/wiring.obd2b.htm
and im missing the A connector number 23
any help will be great.. and do you reckon i should try hook up a wire in there myself since its missing?

just found out from nobbs that there is a sensor at the front of the car near the headers... does anyone know what it looks like? pictures would be nice..
thanks

An a/f gauge will not help you any if you are not running a wideband O2 sensor...
spend your money alsewhere, perhaps a monster tacho!?

Man, its his choice if he wants to waste money, Im trying to help him make a more educated decision. He could always sell it in favour of something which would give him more feedback, such as oil pressure, oil temp.
Sorry Bruisin Bodyguard.

an AFR meter shows plenty of feedback off a stock o2 sensor,
like whether you are running rich or lean, or if you are in closed loop or open loop.
for a stock engine - i would say it is much more relevent than oil pressure or temp...

it somewhat resembles a spark plug (with wires coming out of the top) in my opinion and if you follow the headers down to the part where it becomes 1 you should see it sticking out the top of the header.

YES it will tell you lean or rich, but it wont tell you HOW rich or HOW lean you are. Whats the point of knowing you're lean or rich, if you dont know how far on either scale you are?
You could be at 17-1 a/f and the gague will only show "lean" as the factory O2 sensor is ver poor in accurately functioning the further from stoich the readings / voltage is.
For a stock engine, as you say, you dont need any of this aftermarket rice... sorry might be harsh, but the truth usually is.
I disagree with the lot of you.

oh - it SURE is aftermarket crapola rice!
that is 100%
but still is usefull to make you feel like you are monitoring your engine,
forensics - i have looked it up, and if you cant find the right wire, i respectfully suggest that you are looking in the wrong place for it...
OR
the table you are looking at is wrong.
what is your ECU identifier?

i hooked it up to the primary o2 sensor, wonder there is a difference, but ill be jacking up my car within the next few days to do it properly...
as for your remarks PRO-Ecu, it comes down to personal preference.. and i got it for free im not losing out on anything

thanks for the advice man, so do i just splice that wire and connect it to the gauge? last time i checked the wire looked pretty thick

primary o2 is preferable over secondary o2 ;)
EDIT: the wire looks thick because it has 4 wires inside it, shielding and insulation...

yeah just splice it into one of the wires, i forget which one... (green or white).

the 2 black wires are the heater core
White wire is Signal Ground
Green Wire is Signal
