Hey fellas, have run into some problems with my Civic this morning.

I tried starting it and it turned over really slowly and I heard a few loud ticking noises from the passenger side foot well. After a few ticks the car refused to turn over and the alarm went off.

The alarm now goes off every time I open the door but all lights on the cluster light up when the key is turned to 'Accessory'.

Car is completely stock. There is no aftermarket security.

Any help will be appreciated.

It sounds like you have an aftermarket alarm immobiliser that is playing up. There is sometimes a way of temporarily bypassing it.

Updated the first post with more info. Unfortunately the car has no aftermarket stuff :/

Hey mate I don't think any of our cars came out with a factory alarms

So i would say the alarm part is after market and the alarm is playing up.

Could be water in the alarm.

will the car start at all

Battery replaced. Alarm still going off, car won't turn over.

Green immobiliser light appears then disappears after a second, fuel pump primes itself (followed by a click?), but won't turn over.

Awaiting RACV Mechanic to arrive.

Problem solved. Thanks guys.

For anyone who comes across this thread in the future, there's a little button on the right kick panel up the top (under the dash) that you need to press whilst the key is in the ignition.
