Lowering your car doesn't mean you necessarily "f*ck up everything". Excessive lowering perhaps, but not a minor 1-2 inch drop that still retains suitable shock travel.

If you can drive over a coke can without knocking it over. Its legal. Unless its one of those cute mini cans available in mini-bars. If knock that over then you will get defected.

how come nsw & vic road laws are different compared to S.A.?

here in S.A. we measure from the centre of your wheel to the arch and it has to be a certain height. its just weird, cos if you have a kit and your car is at stock height then does that mean u can still get defected?

btw IMO, lowering it by 2.5 inches is all good, chopping your springs aint but hey your car will look damn low.

i went 3.5" inch lower but on 16's and not have had any problem with cops. But if you are going to lower i suggest doing right the first time. Get the shocks and springs... DO NOT start cutting Sh*t cause i did and i just ended up buying new springs. I went with the KYB shocks cost my 900 or something then some aussie made springs 400 havnt had any problems yet.

only thing it ****s up is ur camber! hehehe. other than that, its hell worth it walkin away from a dropped car and admiring its lovely stance!

honestly man, either way ur gonna get defected for having 18' rims.. Lowering it 2.5' will maybe jus keep u safe from scrubbing, but a 3inch drop will definatley give u bit of problems especially with 18's

Not a very reliable method of measurement really, does the SA govt determine how manufacturer's build their cars?, every car's dimensions would have to be on file for this to be remotely accurate, and still doesn't determine road clearance, what about those weird french cars or that honda hybrid where the rear arch almost covers the entire wheel???

I had a beef with the 100mm rule awile ago, as some speed humps were measuring higher than that - response was, private property mate - but there's still an Australian Standard to adhere to...

I dropped my coupe 3 inches and now my exhaust sits 90mm off the ground.. The skirts sit at about 130mm off the ground, which isnt too bad, I still want to go lower ;)

yeh thanks for the replys..

if i lower my car 2.5" the tyres will be 2cm from the guards.. perfect

the muffler will be like 6" off the ground still so it wont be illegal?

ive had the 18;s on for about a year now and ive been pulled over for rbt's heaps and pulled over for speeding and they havent said anything bout the wheels.. i guess im lucky

anyways does anyone know where to get a cheap set of shocks??

cheers

hey anyone know if i lower it 2.5/3" if the wheels will still be straight? or will they be on an angle?

i dont want uneven wear on the inside edge of the tyre and i dont want it to scrape.. it wont scrape with stock rims lowered 2.3/3"

?

i dropd my eg bout 2" b4.. n the wheels were on a slight angle..
now its dropd wif superlows.. n u can realli notice that its on an angle

if u want the looks.. u gotta compromise for somthin else..
which is gonna b ur uneven tire wear..
