Interested In buying a dc5r but alot of them got high kms ranging from 140-180kms. Do dc5rs go we'll over into the 200kms mark or do they start playing up.. For example clean kept dc5r with about 170kms ? Cheers

Technically any regularly serviced & maintained car can go 200,000kms+ in saying that sus out potential sellers about logbooks, how often it's been serviced, what it's been serviced with, who does it etc.

Anyone on here will tell you you'd rather buy a DC5R with 140,000kms who's owner knows what his doing, services it often and babies it rather than get something with 80,000kms only to know the owner doesn't know shit about the maintenance side of things, redlines it while cold every 1-2 days and services it every 15-20xxxx kms with oil that isn't suitable for the motor.

The way i see it when trying to find a clean & healthy performance car/ type R in general the owner should really know most if not all the important details about the car and if they don't then i wouldn't really want to be buying it.

170kms is pretty normal. There's a DC5R for sale with 400,00kms.

I test drove one with 350,000km on it. It had been regularly tracked and engine felt fine. The rest of the car was pretty rough but it felt like the motor was going to outlast the rest of the car.
My last 3 cars had over 350,000, 1 of them I tracked regularly and the other was made in Korea....
I wouldn't be worried about the ks, more so the oil changes and if the car is warmed up.

Cheers guys.. Interested in dc5r at the moment done about 180kms.. Serviced about 3-4 times a year and he doesn't know much about what oil goes in and that. He's owned it for about 4 years. Seems pretty clean..I've negotiated it to a fairly bargained price.. But question is, is it a risky buy?

I'm always amazed at the amount of people that buy performance cars, and have no idea how to take care of them.

They just buy them for the e- peen factor
Then you get people like me, who ask questions all about said performance car to the owner
Then said owner give's you funny looks and says ' i dont know, i just drive it and take it to auto masters' etc.

Im dc5r is fine its got 183xxxkm on it. Still drives like a dream. As long as its been looked after then the engine should last a long time. Its a 10 year old car. On average a car does about 20,000km a year as a daily driven car (i think it is higher now), so really the km are average for a car at that age.

u mad?

high km means u may have niggling issues, like random things not working, bushes cracked and sloppy, ect ect

engine is not the only thing to worry about
