Hey guys, just wondering if the complete interior of a ek9 will bolt directly into an em1..
im talking the dash, speedo, trims, carpet etc..
especially with the dash part..if it fits..is everything plug and play?
I currently have access to complete ek9 setup..i tried looking it up cant find anything..anyone done this before?..

Its not all plug and play .... ofcourse OP would know that if he googled 'ek9 dash conversion si/em1'

PHO, did you do your own wiring for the climate control? I don't think so.

Eh, yes I did? I did the whole conversion on myself. I had the dash loom and heater core loom that was unchopped, so it was literally taking out the old loom, putting in the new loom, plugging everything up. Yada yada ya.

With the whole dash, still plug and play, in the sense that you just undo lots and lots of screws, seperate the old dash from your intrusion bar/dash metal frame. Put on the new ek9 dash and reverse with the screws.

Who else would have done the wiring for my climate control? :S

If you have a look at my Car diary/thread. You can see I just removed stuff, replaced a loom, replaced trims/dash. And that was it.

I just didn't know what i was doing so i had to figure everything out on the fly, which i did. Its just all plugs and screws.

HOWEVER, if your loom is chopped (as in exposed wires with no plug on the end) then its not plug and play obviously.

This is for the JDM double din climate control:

Few steps missing with the heater core loom. But its all just replacing looms.

WOOOOOOOOO DOUBLE DIN BABY!!!

Full dash out of car.

Had to remove the frame from the dash, so I could change the ducts in the dash to suit the double din vent position.

Comparison with the middle ducts, top is for single din, bottom is for RHD Double din.

Time to change over the looms (needed to change the loom for dash and heater core)

My double din is from a facelifted EK4. So I got the full auto option, with all the sensors of course (Y)
Left = normal block off plate for the bolt holding in dash
Right = blockoff plate is now a sensor for the windscreen, so when front dimister is on, climate control gets it less foggy asap! (which i dont like cause it auto turns on aircon)

Veryy sorry for PHOtato PHOne PHOtos.
Ran into some problems with sensors, but did it all right in the end. However, my radio doesn't work anymore. Need to sort it out tomorrow.

SO HAPPY!!!! :DDDDD

This guy has an EM1, Which means it is facelift. not prefacelift (96-98)

If you look further down, people with facelift have just replaced dash loom and the heater core loom. Added a motor to the bottom of the heater core which controls the air mix ratio for temperature (usually done manually by cable slider). And everything works.

You're sitting there telling someone who has done the conversion, that he doesn't know how to do it? Even though its completely functioning and all.

AND, even still, for a prefacelift, you can do what I did, no need to change the heater boxes. I have done this already for the guy who bought my EK9 double din for his Prefacelift EK4.

I never said you haven't done the conversion.

I know the wiring is different, cos i have spent a day taking it apart and putting the old dash back together due to the wiring issue.

I also have an em1

What wiring issue did you have? Only problem I had was I had a lot of plugs left over because it was from an ek4, had all the jdm pole/seatwarmer goodies and I just had a basic CXi.

And the only thing that was weird for me. Is that when I turn on my rear demister, it makes a loud click when i toggle it. Thats about it. Everything is functioning.

Contact my mate david, he too has an EM1. He didn't have any problems as well.

So theres my EM1 and the EK... "apparantly" its supposed to be a genuine EK9 but with a front cut of a EK4
For compliance reason...either way woulda been hard to tell if it was fake or genuine..car has everything that a normal EK9 would have..some people might even know this car by number plate "IB16BI"...by the time im finish with complete swaps...im gonna have a shiiit load of EM1 parts left over incl engine n gearbox!!!

can I have a list of all the parts you needed for the conversion? I also have an '00 em1 and I wanna do the conversion ASAP too. if you do have the part numbers it would be very helpful.
