hi guys i'm thinking of goin from nissan over to honda, i was considering civic sedan, not really fussed on 2 or 4 door. But wondering what model i should get, anything from 1992-96, with a budget of around 12k. So any suggestions would be appreciated on what year and wat model, eg vt-i, etc etc.

1.5 GL sohc <--dont get diz hehehe

as for Si, 1.6 dohc (non-vtec) & alot of people says that Si 'z got more potential over 1.5 vti sohc???

the only VTir Eg's are the EG6 in the hatch form or the EG4,EG9 sedan

but no DOHC VTEC in AUS models unless its a conversion or a import

as the for the question an Si sedan will b your choice

they go for around 8-9 G's so what eva u get the left over do sum exhasut and suspension basics mods

Cheers for the info guys, so is it possible to get much power out of the SOHC vtec or is it just easier and cheaper to get power from the DOHC 1.6 ? or does anyone know how hard it is to do a conversion to a DOHC vtec motor?

And does anyone know any Si sedans for sale? Had a quick look in the tradingpost, not much in the way of Si's.

Fastest honda fwd NA in the world is a d16y8 vti engined CRX i beleive - single cam power !!! BUT....no vtec ;)

There are ways to get lots of power from ur stock vti - NA takes LOTS of money...hook up a turbo conversion is possibly the easiest and most cost effective.

It's also not hard to do an engine swap (DOHC VTEC) into the EGs
There's quite a few cars on these forums that have done it.

I'd go an ED/EF sedan for about 3 grand then spend the rest on wheels, paint and a ZC (drop in) or B18C swap personally. The EF sedans look cool as high powered low-riders and actually (I hate to say it) can look better than the hatches. They are a bit of a craze in the US, I'm amazed people over here havent picked up on it.

The big bonus is the price compared to all other post '90 sedans, it allows a lot more money for real mods and they are lighter too.

I love the EF for the fact that they were when Honda came of age and became refined in design, compare a 3g to a 4g and you'll see what I mean. Honda has never made as big a step forward as that one :)

But I'd do an ED sedan if I wasn't trying to get a Skyline 2000GTR replica online as a project ;)

yeh sorry guys didnt mean to start an argument between anyone, everyone is entitled to their opinion of what model they prefer and thats what i was after and comparison of what was best. At this stage, for what i'll be able to afford at the end of the month, it looks like i'll probably get an EG Si and later on do a b16 vtec conversion.

Because I drive an EF and I would never drive an EK anything (EK9 excepted) as the EF is an infinitely better than the crap we got dumped on us by Honda Australia.

Furthermore, I'd take an SBC over an EK.

IMO the EK series are not to my taste, the EM1 yes but the EKs no.

Unlike some people, I don't come across as an arsehole by forcing my views on other people, I offer suggestions. BTW, the only way I could get a car older than me is either an S800/S600, even the Coupe 7 and Coupe 9s were made after I was born. But I'd take those over an EK too :P

well u did come across as an arsehole :P but i do understand as it is the car you drive but my opinion differs as I do believe an EK as better performance wise and looks better as well. Just MY opinion - and i am not giving shit to ur car dude, but pls don't try and "bullshit on my 2c" again - not very nice dude. I think when it comes down to it - most ppl would choose an EK over an EF, but hey each to their own i guess. I would def pic my '99 EK hatch over any other Civic - except for a VTI-r Coupe, or any EK VTI-R for that matter!

cheers for all the replys, and i wouldnt mind an EK but my price range is gonna be around an EG, just wondering if anyone knows how much extra the sedans weigh over the hatch, as i wanna do a b16a vtec conversion, but i dont want it to be pointless if the sedans weigh in alot more then the hatch.

If your budget is around $12k, you should be able to get a EK for that price.

Well they are selling pretty cheaply now here in Sydney.

I was tempted to go and look at a VTiR which was advertised for $15k.

well the Si will both own the GLi or CXi in the EK shape..

so get a Si...

recon the EG looks better in hatch anywayz

skoota
09-01-2004, 04:23 PM
depends what EK though... probably an early CXi you may b able to get - but for that price I'd go the EG

dream'n
09-01-2004, 05:54 PM
I'll definatly go EG, mate has an EK and dont want to copy and i dont mind the look og EG's.

So if i want to do a b16a swap, do you's recon instead of sedan, get a hatch?

I reckon the EG hatches look much better than the sedan's and they miiiiiiight weigh a little less. You'd have to check with the experts in here though cos i def. ain't one of those :P

yes skoota ur right the sedan is heavier than the hatch..

EG's hatch weighs sub 1000KG and the sedans a lil bit over..
