Tony, you should start walking to Work instead of driving + don't Rev to Redline all the time!!!

Mine is currently doing 6.9L/100km, but I had been driving like a grandma... not reving over 2.5K... and with a full tank of BP Ult., I am getting about 420-430km when the light comes on... so I guess it isn't doing as well as some other people does I've seen on the forum (i.e. 600km with full tank!!!):(

q_ball - but do you have a Jazz buddy? thats the thing LOL...

i think generally from what I hear - 6-7L should be average for a JAZZ - 9.8L Tony seems like you're driving a 2L or simply have an extremely heavy foot and drive in 2-3rd all the time?

A good way to get down the usage is to stick it into 5th even at 50km/h when cruising (obviously not gonna be good if your going up a steep hill) but generally let the car cruise most of the way - thats the best way to save fuel.
in my crx 1.6L i get 7.8-8L per 100kms... im sure a Jazz with the technological advances should perform better... like the others get 6ish...
I think the peole who do 600Kms to a tank are doing mainly LONG 80+km straight drives.. no way you get that in the city...

so check your driving dude..

sir, you are incorrect.
i get 650kms to a tank. around 550kms before the light comes on. (between 6~6.5L/100kms)

it's the only car in the household so it's used on a daily basis (22000kms in 8 mths), 80% of the time <80kmh, in morning and evening traffic.

vti-manual.
regular unleaded only.

and yes .. i shift into 5th gear at EVERY opportunity :p

i get around 450km per tank

Tony

It's probably because I live in the city and I usually only do 5 minutes driving every day.

2 minutes from home to work, and 2 minutes from work to home :P

Tony

I'm surprised someone actually got 650km per tank though.. that's like 1/2 my fuel consumption..

did i get u thinking tony when i told u about ur trip computer reading after i drove ur car?

my average will be below 6 easily, usually 5.7 but if i take it above 3,400rpm itīll chew more and especially since i just love the pod noise so gotta rev it a bit more

Tony

yeah, I haven't checked the gas mileage metre until you mentioned it the other day. it's always been 6.3 to 6.8l/100km when I was living in Browns Plains.. I'd say it's most likely due to city driving.

i am usually gettin abt 550 in one tank but mine is the 1.3 one. Also, i rarely go past 4000rpm.

yep, i think that's the problem right there, 5 minutes driving wont be doing your fuel consumption any favours ;)

Right now I'm sitting on 5.5L/100km. I cant remember the last time I filled up the tank FULL. but I've been averaging 6.2L/100km if im not driving it like a granny too much. Right now I'm being pretty stingy on petrol... doing 60km/h in 5th gear and coasting to traffic lights :D

I think this has been discussed in another thread....ohh well.. depending on a lot of factors I suppose, auto/manual, rev/grandma, long distance/short trip, constant freeway/bumper to bumper traffic..

Me, VTI-S Auto, BP RON95, 80% city driving and 20% freeway. 6.8L - 7.0L /100Km

Tony let me guess... You have exhaust and maybe air filter? If you do that may contribute to such bad mileage.

Tony
31-03-2005, 07:24 PM
Yeah it's a bit of everything. Aftermarket filter, header, SAFC, city driving, semi-racing tyres, high rev driving, hardly use the 5th gear unless I'm on the freeway, heavy air conditioning.. etc etc :p

after i change filter, spark plugs, header and other stuff, my car's consumption went up from like 6.8 to 7.8. i believe the mods contributes to the increase in fuel consumption

of course it does. increased combustion = more fuel burning :)

but i guess u would already have known that ;)

Attention Fellow Jazz owners....:

:D do a search on fuel consumption thread in jazz section, I bet you there will be more than 10 thread about this..... :D hahaha..... I know the petrol price are sky rocketing.... but stuff it....... we buy cars to enjoy it...... I say REV IT WHEN YOU FEEL LIKE IT!!!!! and NEVER LOOK AT THE FUEL METER EVER AGAIN!!!!!

life is too short to care about 5.5L or 7.5L...... :) right? I am not gonna change my driving style because I can't make 600km per tank..... :)

cheers....

MRFIT is correct..there are numerous threads on the issue of fuel consumption. At the end of the day it comes down to individual driving style/technique and the conditions you drive in. It's that simple.

6.9L/100km and 430km a tank when light comes on??

Strange, my jazz did 7.7L/100km and my mileage is also about 430km
