Living the dream Jake. Living the dream. I arrived at the Team Orange Headquarters and I’m staring at the Team Orange WRX I’ll be driving at the Odaiba round of the Japanese D1 Grand Prix. The car would cost more than two hundred thousand dollars to build. It is by far the coolest car I may ever drive in my life. It was immediately evident that a hell of a lot of time and effort goes into this car. It was truly amazing to say the least.

While the Team Orange mechanics tried to figure out how to fit me in the car I was shown a stack of Yokohama S.drive (http://www.yokohama.com.au/Tyres/S-Drive.aspx) high performance tyres and a set of bare rims. I didn’t need to understand Japanese to know what came next. I fitted the tyres so they could be fitted to the Team Orange Drift School S14, the same one I drove last December when I visited Ebisu.

I needed to show Team Orange I was good enough to get behind the wheel of their precious two-hundred-and-fifty-thousand-dollar Subaru WRX drift car. I was also eager to learn from these gods of drift.

I took the car out for a session with Suenaga-san watching. I came in and he said to me “Your driving is OK but not perfect”. So, I asked if he could drive and I could be a passenger for a few laps…
