this is driving me crazy, my cheap supercheapauto 1400kg jack for $30 was GREAT until I lowered the car. the jack is 140mm lowered and all my jacking points are just a little lower than the highest I can lift the car with 1 hand.

it's pretty stupid, in order to put jack in I try to life the car with 1 hand and the other hand put jack in, and I can only lift the car up just a few MM, and still just a few MM before I can put the jack in so I end up using 2 jacks. using the regular jack jacking up an area that u not suppose to put jack on, which is ok cos I only need to jack it up for 10mm or so to be able to put the real jack in. it's annoying as hell.

problem now is all those low profile jack 95mm high are minimum $200

WTF I just want something that works and will not pay more than $50

>_< suck to lower the car !

lol what, are you superman lifting the car with your hands.

if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys.

best option is to get a arcan jack from costco ~$175

alternatively the cheapest option is to go to your local housing development or construction yard and steal a few planks of wood and plank the car when you're looking to jack it up.

Please don't encourage theft.

The costco jack is the cheapest low profile jack around, but it has 80 or 85mm of clearance. If your car is lower than that, you will need a Bluepoint trolley jack that has 70mm of clearance, but it will set you back almost $600

Use stock jack to jack the side

Use your hydraulic jack to lift the front

Jacked.

I bought cheapest wood planks and the cheap jack from super cheap auto total cost $80! Works all the time. I also stole bricks from a construction site to help me keep the car in the air safely. (Construction site - my dads home project on going for 2 years)

Bricks are not a good idea for holding up cars. They crumble and break without warning. Blocks of wood are better. Jack stands that are designed for the job are better yet.

Don't skimp on safety.

if you must use bricks, please put a layer of plywood on the base and top of the stack. this will bring the chance of the brick crumbling down slightly.

safety first.

As mentioned before, Arcan jacks from Costco are the best. I bought one a year back and haven't looked back since. It has saved me so much time on services.

thanks for the ideas. ive try the stock jack method but I will have to place stock jack at the plastic part of the car as I need space for hydraulic jack at jacking point. which isnt so bad wont really damage the car to jack at wrong place for just 10mm. lifting I can only get up 5mm or so.

it seems dave's idea best like driving it only piece of wood is best. I got some scrap 16mm thick mdf wood pieces.(the one from bunnings for shelving) left over in my garage. just cutting 2 small pieces, small chopping board size. drive the car on them easy and now enough clearance for my jack.

the car is just under 10mm too low for the jack.

you can buy those lowered car ramps that are about 50mm height to get the lift then jack it up, saves splinters and hassle of carting wood around the yard.
