Go to Supercheap or car shop and get a wheel brace - much easier than the tool in the boot. Cost about $8

be careful taking the nuts off or you may snap the bolt underneath

the one which yr nut is attached to, if it is too tight, when u try to take the nut off, tendency is instead of loosening the nut the whole bolt shears/snaps

This happened with my parents' car when we needed to put on the spare wheel. I had to stand on the bar thingy and push it down really hard with my foot to get them off.

Or u can eat more and grow a bit heavier and maybe u can step on the wheel wrench and it will unloosen the bolt...

Get a long piece of metal pipe, and use that as an extension. Gives you more leverage. Careful not to snap your bolts off.

Go to Super Cheap, or K-Mart and puchase an extendable wheel brace for about $25. It'll have a reverseable wheel nut socket for two nut diameters, and closed it's about 30cm's long, extend the handle and it's almost 60cm's long so you've doubled the torque you can apply.

It also has a nice close radiused neck, so provided you have it fitted to the nut properly you won't need to worry about rounding the nut by not having the head supported.

Don't bounce on the extended bar, just gradually lean all your weight onto it. If that doesn't work push down. Failing that one or two quick thrust's (imagine you're giving CPR to a basketball) should break the bond without damaging the nut, the thread or the shank.

Oh and it's got a some weight to it, so if you're concerned about road rage keep it behind your seat and you'll have an effective baton with which to defend yourself :) (PS I do not in any shape or form condone road rage ;) )

You can also spray some WD40 onto the bolt, let it seep into the threads. It'll help a bit too.

make sure the they are not cross threaded...if they are, you're doomed.

Use the red nozzle that comes with WD40. You only need to spray onto the nut. It ain't going anywhere near your discs unless you spray cockeyed! :D

It happened to my Toyota Cressida (1991 model) before. :( Lucky i got it repaired by a patrol station machanic with a very reasonable fee. This was many years back.

REV888., make sure the wheel you are working on is not suspended in air. The tyre must still have some contact with ground to provide stability of the whole wheel.
