dove grey 64

I do love 80s cars. Always had a liking towards hondas and in particular civic wagons due to their looks and rarity. Nobody can deny honda builds a great motor.

Hah. I do like initial d.
Im a upholsterer so im pretty limited to cheap cars. Im really happy with the wagon so far. I wont be doing a motor swap until this one dies. And by the looks of things I dont think its going to die anytime soon.

Daveho1
30-09-2013, 07:45 AM
lol always the way....try to justify the d,b or k swap but just not happening

fair enough. dont get me wrong id love to have a lil car i could dump and just make the most stupid thing going fo' lols .. but for me i cant justify the cost of building a car like that.

dove grey 64
08-10-2013, 10:03 AM
Rims and coilovers dont cost that much.
I like looking at other peoples cars like the wagon above but I prefer a car that handles and doesn't rub so I'd never go that far.

Daveho1

would be keen to swap these for some factory alloys, have not been on here long enough to make a sale post =(

I've sourced a d16y1, plan to run it with carbs for the hell of it. ;)
The motor in this while still strong drinks oil and water, doesnt blow smoke which is weird though.
Ive found a vid on youtube with a guy running a d16y1 on carbs

Quick summary is wheels re drilled, makita coils and 5mm slip ons for caliper clearance.
If you have the time check out the build thread link. Lots of pics and details in there, I only try to get traffic to the thread because there is a competition on at the moment with the thread that gets the most views wins a set of coilovers.
I believe im currently in the lead which is awesome but I need to stay in the lead till the end of jan.
So sorry to keep on reminding people about it.

Anyone here skilled at it and keen for a cashie?

Jasemas

I have the opposite problem
Tint seperated from the glue FML

MCM make it look easier than what it is

dove grey 64
08-01-2014, 06:54 PM
How does that happen? Bad quality tint?
Did you use no tears baby shampoo with bottled water? Thats the go.
Works better then tap water and morning fresh.
Also use a industrial steamer to remove the tint/glue.
Heaps faster and cleaner then mcm way

Scored a replacement lower console insert, previous owner hacked up the original one. Being a wagon its completely different from all other civics of the same year group. So pretty happy with that.
However, it had a 4 pin plug. Power, earth and two reds for the bulbs, one in the ashtray and one for the white circle around the lighter. My car had a two pin plug.
So got a 4 pin one from the wreckers and linked earth and power and then joined the two reds to the illumination wire on the stereo loom as its not used anymore and everything works bar the lighter bulb. Tried another bulb and still not working. Dont have a multi meter.
Also had an issue with the heater control led, bottom one works perfectly but the top one doesnt. Sort of got it to work, plugged it back in and nothing.
Not a big deal but I like shit working properly.
Another thing, the tilt column wont drop. Inspected it, everything looks fine but it just wont tilt.
Anyone else have similar symptoms?

Full lock left to right about two times each side and that should bleed it properly

30-01-2014, 09:07 AM
They said its a engine in job which is a relief. Ae95r corolla wagons are a motor out job, more often then not the labour charge costs more then the car and they get wrecked.
Got my clutch kit for $100, mate works at a parts supplier.
Its a 99 forester gt, auto and on liberty bilstein suspension. It did well, glad I fitted bigger calipers and rotors a while ago.
Just struggled up hill from a standstill. Could smell the auto box getting warm lol.
Xt foz with the 2.5l and manual would be better but its my wifes car anyway.

This is it, comp finishes tonight at 12am.
Just wanted to thank everyone that checked out the build thread and helped out with the view count. The show of support for this unique ef wagon has been overwhelming.
Hopefully we win. The suspension company doing the coilovers hasn't tuned the ef chassis before so if we win they will take the wagon and specifically make/tune a setup for the ef wagon, not sure if anybody else does that around the world purposely for that particular model.
Either way, much appreciation and such amaze ;)
I'll update this when the comp finishes, we are in the lead but anything can happen
Cheers

Seeing as I won what I'd consider to be incredible suspension I suppose I should go all out with this car.
I'll change all the bushes and do bodywork and paint, retrim the interior etc.
Engine swap maybe one day, nothing drastic though, still stick with a carb d series.
Jdm d15b is the one to keep an eye out for right?

Just remembered too (but it's a few years ago), there was one of these at Boss Wrecking in Brisbane Ph 07 3390 4555. Could be worth a call to see if it's still there.

Thanks for the tip about the wreckers hondapop, I'll give them a call.
I love that wagon with the widended rt steelies, would have gone down that rd but my wagon came with eg steelies, interceptor style :(
I probably should have named the thread differently, would get more views then.

Im trying to find out more information about wagon sales in Australia, all the ones I know of are rt4wd, did they not offer the fwd versions?
I know 3 others in victoria and a friend spotted 2 others, apart from that nada, would have to be one of the rarest cars on the rd.
I feel very fortunate to have one

One was on ebay just recently in sa, passed in at $350, owner wanted $1500 for it.
A guy that lived close by bought it, hes on civic wagon dot com.
Another mint one was on ebay in melb, buy it now $1500, no bids, dems here bought it out of auction.
I dont get it. People are pm'ing me asking if I'd sell but they pass on ones listed that are in better condition? I dont get it.

I'd never sell this. Much ♥ for it

Was a long shot, unfortunately since they had to limit to only a single layer (no stacking) they shift them out pretty quickly, only keep high demand ones. Makes ya cry when you see good stuff going to the crusher. I wonder if the guy in Perth got both that one and the one in Melbourne, wouldn't surprise me, certainly collects Gen2 CRX's. I know he was looking for 1.
