40mm ~ 1.5 inches should be just about right, given the offset of the 17s doesn't allow rubbing either.

let me know if you need more info

if you have standard shocks you can get away with just buying springs, but its best to get new shocks as soon as u can. :)

I have King Springs on my Prelude and they come to two sets
1/ Low
2/ Superlow

I wish i got Superlow cos Low's are not low enough!
Have it so your tyre is just under the guard...

Also, get new shocks!

I'd suggest to get new shocks - getting only springs will improve the looks, and handling to a limited degree, but they were never designed to handle a higher spring rate for a long period.

i would get both at the same time. If you just get springs your shocks will wear out faster, if you use stock springs on upgraded shocks the spring rate not matched you will find out that you bottom out.

Doing both at the same time and making sure springs and shocks match will save you both in money (as you would need to pay for shock install and spring install twice) and also unnecessary wear and tear on your stock parts if you wish to sell them, or keep them in case you want to sell car at later date.

springs, springs + shocks, coilovers, coilover sleeves or airbags, air struts, hydros are your options :D... if your not going for a huge lower, ie, 40mm, springs should work fine for a while... not sure on the lude but may cause some guard rubbing...

You -may- get some guard rubbing, nothing that rolling guards wouldn't fix though. I know of ppl in the states who run 17's with 215s with no rubbing issues, suppose it's a matter of luck?

dude u should have no problems what-so-ever with the 17s and a 40mm drop, with purchasing new springs. shocks arent an issue, u dont need them. i had my 4th gen lowered 2.5 inches sitting on 17s with king springs and there were no problems at all, no rubbing or srcaping of any sort.

WTH 40mm? is that all? thats not even 2 inchs, not enought to cover the gap :p.

anyway i have 4WS, and i have 3.5inch lower at the back and 3.5inch at the front currently. its like magic, the gap disapeeared all of a sudden.

i have 205/50/16 tyres, and no wheel scrapage.

i saw you gotta lower your ride by at least 2inch's, anyhting less than that, you wont be happy with. especially if your going for looks.
