Toyo R1R is soft and sticky as fuk, but when cold in cold weather it's nothing special.

Also look into dunlop direzza z1 star spec if you can get a hold of some of those

Call up tempe tyres and NB tyres, good prices

fuk forgot about r1r.

didnt bother with direzza as i don't think they are sold in au, have to import them.

Op, just google the tyres listed in thread, you'll be able to make an informed choice from there. but like i said, can't go wrong with any of them.

Agreed, I've run the 595RSR they are sticky as anything... Also add Michelin Pilot Sport 3, don't look anything special but they're also a great tyre...

I should add though that 205 over a 6.5 is actually bordering on being fairly wide, you might want to look at a 195...

Dislike Kumho KU36... Sure the dry performance is great but give it a sprinkle of water has you flailing about -_-
Lets not start about standing water...

Direzza Z1 Star Spec I rate highly! But like CB/umad said, import only and now its the Z2 ;)

Need a little more information...

What car/mods/power do you have?
What's your application? [eg. Spirited Street + Annual Trackday?]
What's your price range?

This way can help you much more :)

When people say best rubber i automatically assume they mean highest level of dry grip with disregards to everything else ie tyre wear, wet weather performance and price.

In that case with the price of 595RSRs you really cannot go wrong, they've got an aggressive tread pattern which is basically a street slick. They handle pretty well better than anything in the dry that costs twice the price, that is you can have them for about $120 a corner and in terms of value for money are better than Toyo Proxes or whatever else that's similar. As with any slick though, you really have to keep them warm which is hard enough when you're not doing laps, and it also means they can be pretty average in the wet.

The biggest complaints apart from that, that most people raise with 595s is firstly that they ride harsh and secondly that they're quite noisy, i.e. you'll be checking for a spun wheel bearing when there isn't one. Other than that, I don't think I've had a better tyre for the price they run at. I've had better tyres on my car, but they come at a much more expensive price.

ok im putting them on a del sol I have a h series in it so its heavy up front with about last dyno think it was about 147kw stock engine not yet had any mods done going to look towards an N/A set up. The car is sitting on buddyclub race specs and have function7 rear lca and brace. Was looking for a tyre for road use but would adapt best to both dry and wet conditions until I do the other mods which isn't in the near future. Thanks for your help guys its appreciated.

$200 a corner for a normal road tyre? Have a look at the Michelin Pilot Sport 3....

http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Michelin/Pilot-Sport-3-PS3.htm

They don't look like much in terms of tread pattern, but then Michelin tyres never really do look like much they're a soft compound that's good in both wet and dry. Other than that look at the Bridgestone Potenza RE002.

If you can find some toyo T1R's they are also good for dry and perform reasonably in the wet. I just found some direzza star spec recently in 205/50/15 and I should be able to tell you how they perform in a couple of weeks. They are price though.

In my opinion - Toyo's are the best bang for that sort of buck ($200) or even less!

Rates well... and they have a nice aggressive tread pattern if that's what you like.

We'd recommend Kumho KU31s or KH17s for that size.
