Hi all,
My name is Dave and I am from Melbourne.

My wife and I just purchased a (2nd hand) 2011 MY12 Accord Euro Luxury (Premium White) which we pick up this Wednesday afternoon - I am VERY excited.

I have wanted to get a Euro for several years and in the early 2000's my Wife owned a 98' Civic which was really nice to drive and when our twins arrived in 2005 it was OK for a few years until our 3rd child was on the way which was when we had to upgrade to a larger car (ended up buying a Toyota Kluger - which is also beautiful to drive) - but before that we had been contemplating getting an Accord Euro.

Now several years later we will finally own one. Can't wait. The budget wouldn't stretch to a brand new 2013 model so a 2 y.o 2011 (MY12) had to do...and it "had" to be the luxury model :-)
Myself, I'm stepping up from a 2003 Mazda SP20 Protege (which I've had since new).
I'll be sad to see it go but I have no doubt a few days driving in the Euro will help me forget all about my SP20.

Looking forward to once again being a proud Honda owner and 1st time Euro owner. I have a few family and friends that have (or have had) a Euro and absolutely love the car, so I'm sure I will have many happy years of driving in it.

Great forum here by the way. I am slowly working my way through the Euro sub-forum, reading about the car etc. Not sure we'll do any mods to the car but I'm just happy to be a Euro owner.

Cheers,
Dave

Hey there Dave gratz on the Euro
Post a few pics of the car

Just a few heads up, don't want to get you startled over the Euro
Just be weary of oil consumption, as some K24 engines tend to consume oil
As well as a phenomenon known as 'pinging' when engine goes off load (i.e going from 3000 rpm to 1500 suddenly) - always use 98
And premature rear brake wear

Good luck

Cheers Jasemas.
I'll be sure to post a few pics later in the week once I have picked it up.

Thanks for the tips as well. I am slowly making my way through the many threads in the Euro sub-forum and by the sounds of it I might try using some HPR5 5W-30 oil during its next service....and will keep an eye on the oil level over time to see how it goes.

As for the pinging, will 98RON offer a significant difference over 95RON? Whilst I might give it a "spirited run" every now and again, my days of driving hard are long gone so I dare say I'll be watching the fuel consumption figures more than my rpm figures - LOL

Didn't know about the premature rear brake wear....will have to read up on that.

Cheers,
Dave

Congratulations on buying your Euro, you are seriously going to LOVE it.

Mine is my 7th brand new car,and they have all been good, but this IS the best.

Beautiful to drive, comfortable,so good looking, and brilliantly built and finished.

ALWAYS go 98 with these works of art. Always. I wouldn't let my baby drink inferior shit. She gets only the best.
