hey guys, i was just wondering if any of you could tell me how easy CRX's (88-92 square looking ones?) are to find in good nick these days? whats the price range that they go for generally? Im just wondering for in the future as my n13 pulsar is becoming more and more problematic :thumbdwn: so id like to buy a CRX around the end of the year but am wondering how much money i need to save and just doing some research before buying. Also, how do they go?, r they generally reliable even at this age? thanks guys, just wanna do sum background research before setting my heart on one :D

I recently brought a 95 model crx (about 2 months ago) and I paid $14,000 for it. The earlier models should be a little cheaper then that. They are great cars so you are making a good choice by wanting one. My crx is fantastic, best purchase i've made. If you've got your heart set on one, then by god boy go out and get one!!! :)

They are pretty easy to find, just keep looking in the trading post and on this site and places like this. You will find what you are looking for pretty quickly.

I think its pretty hard to find one that hasn't been "tampered" with.
All the ones I see seem to have huge wheels, massive bulging body kits and multi-coloured interiors!! :(

Can have an SiR imported by an agent from Japan for about 10,500-11,500. They go HARD...

if u want one in good nick. just wait too you see an old fart driving one. follow em home and offer them cash for there ride.
them old farts that drive crx's keep them in good condition. no mods or anything, some with pretty low k's aswell

for a standard reasonable condition gen2 you are looking around $6000-$8000, for a modified crx around $8000-$11000

to give you an idea on how reliable the engines are...
the original D16a8 Non-Vtec engine I first had in my old crx I clocked up 310,000km before doing a B16A Vtec engine swap... the d16a8 was still going strong.

aslong as the cars been looked after and you look after it ... it'll be your best friend :)

its like they came factory with 18' chromies and cyber body kits! if i where you spend the extra 1-2k above a good condition gen2 and try and find yourself an sir. much fun, and more and more seem to be coming into the country.

They're top cars mate & still going on strong despite age issues...just purchase one in relatively good nick & transplant a VTEC in there down the track (or hunt down a SiR)...or if your budget constraints permit, you can take mine off my hands :D

lol thankyou 91 lude i feel very privileged.

but in all honesty, i would much rather trying to hunt down an sir as CRX-Ando said. saves you from any conversion wowes you may have in the future

After reading genone's 2nd gen CRX review from motor, they sound like very fast cars, even just the standard 2nd gen, 1.6... 96kw in a 900kg body, they'd probly rival my prelude easily in speed. Shame most of the ones for sale, are as steer^gimick said, kitted with ugly wheels etc.

I once saw one at Broger Honda in tommo geting a heart transplant to Vtec 1.8 would go much harder with that thing in place instead of sir

hahaha - true! *except for maybe the last bit*

but I got two - gen1 (1983) and gen2 (1991) - love them both, they are awesome and if looked after 'HONDA'S NEVER DIE'!

standard crx will beat standard prelude and standard integra of same era *wink wink* hehehe *waits for people to crack the s**ts* lol

nah crx is an overall great package, look for one with a mugen kit and some 15's and thats all ya need... they look the best.

^^^ yep what stevey boy said. crx's may not be the fastest car i have driven but they are by far the funnest :D great car overall.

now we just gotta find a way of banning crx's with cyber/boom kits, candy paint and oversized chromies :( poor babies

well they are one of the least seen cars on the road yet one of the most covered in mags like hot4s, fast fours etc. i just think that crx's have had more than their fair share of rice and now its another cars turn :p

Clothed in Cyber ProII *check*
Candy Apple paint *check*
18" rolling stock *check*

Yikes! I think I fall in the perceived "banned" category lol...but I'm sure the FMIC somewhat nullifies any preconception of just another ricemobile :p

yeah and you have airbrushing too! hahahhaa :p

at least u have the performance to back it up but i'm sure u get what i mean ;)

05-04-2005, 08:20 AM
yeah, we need to make a maths formula that somehow performance can over ride rice.

Not all rice is bad, just when its cheaply done and clashes. There was a candyapple kitted EK civic on here, big chrome wheels, 100% rice but looked pritty nice cos they didnt cut any corners.

Just wondering, what what a stock Gen2 CRX run on the quarter? High 15's?

SINISTR
05-04-2005, 11:28 AM
probably low 16s - 16.1 or 16.2 for a COMPLETLY stock gen2.

I ran a 15.8 but have had mates run 15.5s - with intake and exhausts

I think CRXs are still being considered as one of the EASY cars to modify - and when they are they look awesome - and all of US - Crx owners should be PROUD of the fact we drive a car - which in some cases is comming to 16-17yrs of AGE (for gen2) and is still regarded as a cult car!

I think if you have a Kit on the car - at least have some of the performance to match it and it will be fine. I never diss a Crx with a kit on, or wheels on it. I might not like it looking like that - but i never say 'oh look at that pos' - i admire the fact and appreciate the fact that someone still WANTS to do up a 17yrs old car :)

and then you get my GENONE... 22YRS old peoples... and still turns heads on the road!

Respect to all CRXs

you'll prob find that back in the late 90s when CRX's first starting getting big kits big rims big paint etc etc that there wasnt as much knowledge on performance on this car as there is today...

and the scene back then was big big big...

kits and wheels is ok
