Hey guys,

I've got a 3" b pipe but the muffler I have laying around is 2.25". Would it be useless to run the 3" b pipe to the 2.25" muffler?

1. The muffler is a nice brand new muffler I have so I didn't want to sell it off.
2. Too hard to find another nice muffler.
3. I will be using a straight axle back pipe for track/fun days instead of the 2.25" - 2.25" muffler will just be for daily.

Any info/advice is appreciated.

Thanks.

get a new B pipe. no point having it tapered at the axle back to make it fit, wont be any performance gain.
it will actually hinder it by having swells in the exhaust size u will lose flow velocity.

what car is it on, Euro?
most likely a 2.25 is good enough if its a twin, if its single might want a 2.5 and bite the bullet for new mufflers.

It'll be for a Kswap car so that's why I'm going 3". The straight axle back will also be 3".

I just need a daily muffler as I can't find any good mufflers in 3".

Just trying to see how bad (if it's even bad) it'd be to be running a 3" system into a 2.25" muffler.

Worse comes to worse, I'll just have to sell off the 2.25" muffler and grab at least a 2.5" which means I'll have to be on the look out again :(

u mad?

i think the oval magnaflows generally sound nice and quiet

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Magnaflow-14834-Performance-Muffler-w-Tip-5x8x14-Oval-3-Inlet-/300739549508

that style, if you go for an oval you will be OK!

i wouldnt get the one above though as shipping is insane

Yeah, scared of bottlenecking.. that's why I'm asking lol.

I'm a fan of oval mufflers, not round ones.

My Euro has two oval Magnaflow's at the moment but I was just seeing if there were any other nice brands out there for the kswap.

Thanks guys.

it will serve little purpose to have 3" exhaust with only 2.5" muffler.

if you are going to track the car with open exhaust, then just take the muffler off at the track, bolt it back on for the street, u r not going to notice power drop by using that 2.5" muffler on the street anyway.

Thanks for the reply connorling.

Yeah, that's what I wanted to know.

HOW "bad" would it be to run a 2.25" (not 2.5" muffler. 2.5" would be fine) muffler on a 3" b pipe.

Do you still stand by your opinion if the muffler is 2.25" and not 2.5"?

Get yourself a Vibrant ultra quiet reso along with a vibrant 3" muffler.

Straight through setup that sounds very meaty, nice as note
