you mean the bit thats sort of half way up the door? On an eg there are clips on the inside that you can get to by taking off the inner door lining. And there is one nut at the end. The hatch then has two more bits that you have to get to by removing the rear inner lining and by removing the front wheel arch lining. Not sure if your car is similar. I just looked at a service manual. Let me know if you want more details or a better explanation.

yea as Eclipsor said.. u have to take out the door trim ...and unclip them from the inside.. or u can do it the dodgy way.... cover up the surroundings with newspaper and maskin tape.... and just spray paint them ...

if your talking about the door guards.. like the black strip that runs horizontally across the middle of your door.. then SEARCH IT . its been covered. search for Colour coding. if not, then i have no idea what the hell you guys are talking about. lol

you can get small tins of touch up paint from them, and automotive paint shops sell spray cans that you can put the paint into, only downside is that its pretty expensive for teh spraycan and propellant. you would also need clearcoat if you wanted it to match the OEM colour more.

it is probably cheaper for the automotive paint shop to mix up your car's colour using the paint code as opposed to getting the touch up tin though. pretty much all 2K paints are about the same price.

if you're painting something that has previously not been painted, you would have to prep the surface very carefully too. if its a fairly small job and you're only going to do it once, probably best to get a smash repairer to do it for you since its not worth buying all the stuff to DIY.

yes it is a good idea but cna i suggest that u dont do it yourself?

I looked into diy myself a while ago and found that

1. The plastic moulds do NOT click in property once u have clicked them out...
2. Even though u are getting paint to ur color code, it wont have the same color once u spray it on... or rather the same finish...now considering that the moulds play a major part of your car's visual %... do u really want that?
3. Costs...

2 cans of spray = 30 dollars
1 can of primer = 10
2 cans of clear coat = 20

thats 60 bucks already... now factor in

SANDPAPER... another 10 bucks...

70 dollars... plus time...elbow grease and the certainty it would look far from the result you want...compared to 150 to get it done professionally

its alot of work, i had to take mine off a week ago to fix some rattling and now it rattles more with the system so i gotta sound-dent the whole door. once you take them off they dont clip in as well as they used to.
