Hi guise.

my cmc is less than 20k old but the squeek really shits me. What's the best way to make it quiet?

Take off the rubber boot that protects the rod ( in cabin) and spray abit of lithium grease or dab some bearing grease in there- then pull back the boot. Should help ( if temporary )
Usually the OEM grease dries out from the cmc sitting unused for a decade

Do you think the wrong lube will cause premature failure?

thats something you'll have to research yourself - that is , what wont wear the inner seal.
FYI ive used both and never had an issue

I have the same symptom. Goes away after the engine is warmed up or driven for awhile.

I also changed my cmc but that didn't do anything.

The sound is actually within the clutch assembly area. Pressure plate, release bearing or fork.

This is just my problem for my ej8. Might or might not be the case with yours.

u mad?

identify where the noise is actually coming from to save time. Its either the CMC or the slave/clutch diaphragm/release fork-lack of grease on pivot points or spline of input shaft

Very common for the ball that the release fork rests on the get rusty and squeak

Most likely the sound is coming from where the slave cylinder rod head contacts with the release fork.

My car has the same issue. Pulling it apart and cleaning and lubricating with a suitable grease (I use this http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/Penrite-Moly-Grease-Tub-500g.aspx?pid=1935#Cross ) fixes it for a month or two, and then the noise is back. It's pretty annoying doing it this often, as you have to rebleed to clutch each time you do it. I've tried getting some grease through the slit in the rubber boot (to save taking it all apart), this sort of works sometimes.

Does anyone know if a new slave would fix the problem? Do the new ones have some sort of hard coating on the rod head that stops the squeak, and doesn't wear off straight away? Can't imagine new dc2s from factory were squeaking within the first year of ownership
