hey all, over the last few weeks ive noticed the idle on my EK turn't to shit
as soon as i am starting up the car (cold or warm) the idle constantly jumps between 500 and 1000 rpms, it gets to a point where the car stalls by itself without me having to hold my foot on accelerator slightly, this gets really ****ing annoying as it constantly stalls at the lights or when it is left in neutral

i know the car is running really rich (car backfires like crazy and spits petrol out the exhaust) which could be the problem and im only getting under 300kms out of a tank at the moment?

Engine is B20/B16 vtec build running power fc

I would first check/clean the idle air control valve first if your using the stock intake manifold and also check for vacuum leaks. The idle air control valve sits on the intake manifold towards the firewall

You can use these links as a guide:

Good luck

Proper ECU? whats wrong with Power FC

and yes i think im gonna take it in for a tune, its drinking way too much petrol anyways
Know of any Good tuners in Melbourne whos good with Honda's?

@Atari
i just cleaned IACV and checked vacuum lines, same problem

Also what i noticed was after a few minutes of jumping RPM's it would find a good constant idle, but as soon as i tap the throttle it goes back to jumping between 500-1000 -,-

Isnt Power FC only a piggy back?

For melb, as always pm stndard. His very helpful and knows his shit.

what fuel pressure regulator are you running? maybe your fuel pressure reg is faulty?

@ EK1 Civic - yeah pretty sure its 70mm, should i play around with the butterfly valve?
@ A-man - Stock b16a? where can i test for faulty reg?

I had an issue fitting a 70mm throttle body on my b18c, need to adjust the iac duty cycle to keep the revs stable. Mine was worse though, turn car on and it revs to 4k and idle hunts between 2.5-3.5k revs. You could have the throttle slightly open during idle aswell, cable might be to tight. I reverted back to stock throttle body in meantime till i get hondata, to adjust my duty cycle.

btw is it a skunk2 throttle body? there notorious for having the butterfly getting stuck, since you mention the the revs going crazy when you tap the throttle. Try loosen some slack on the accelerator cable, and see if it settles down.

sorry for the slow reply. I usually put a gauge in and check the pressure. You can also remove the vacumn line from the regulator and the fuel pressure should stabilize.

I've had one once that was leaking fuel into the intake manifold through the vacumn line.

Another quick thing you could try is crimp the return line and see if it runs better. I use a coolant hose pliers just to make sure it doesn't wreck the lines.
