Hi guys,

I know its common practice to put (I think its an ek4) throttle cable on b18c7 and have it going under the intake manifold around and up to the tb, and i've actually done it myself on my old motor. My only concern is I didnt really do many km's with this setup and I'm not a big fan of the sharp angle the cable has to take around the manifold, there must be a reason why honda would design the car with such a long cable with no sharp bends in it. I never experienced any issues with it on my old car, has anybody else?

I would be interested too if there are some who have had a short cable set up on a daily

My logic is

Honda are smart. They thought it wise to have no sharp bends in cable

Ur logic???

Dnt makeme remind u...
Ur the one that changed random.parts for NO logical reason which caused u issues...lol

As long as the cable is good condition or new ($55)
U wont have any issues....the bends arnt as sharp as u think...

Come past n have a look at mine

It's mainly the bend around the intake mani, I had it before on my eg, it's basically 180degree loop

Does it kink?

If not, it's fine

I had a 180 degree loop in roughly 2-3 inch radius on my ek, worked fine.

Have fitted EK9 Throttle Cable and DC2R Throttle Cable Bracket on EG/B16/B18CR, have had absolutely no problems. My EL2 Orthia also has this setup standard.
Shorter cable follows perfect curve and resists stretching moreso than the longer cable. If you are running a B18C2 with standard IM, I recommend using LHD USDM DC2R Throttle cable.

If anyone chasing new OEM Throttle cables and brackets, PM me :)

u kill me man...
u worri bout the smallest silliest things....lol

if the throttle cable having a 180 degree bend in it was no good, u think they would leave it in the EK CXI, GLI, VTI'R & Type R???

just because its in a different cosmetic shell, they concept, design and physical work it does is the same...

the dc2r had to be a lil different so they made it 4kms long to look fancy...lol

All the other cars have the cable entering from the other side. It's the type r manifold design that made them make it enter from the other side. No oem honda has the throttle cable bending on such an angle, I'll prob do it anyway just until I get my itb because it looks stupid at the moment

wat u talking out...

every ek civic model has the short throttle cable running along the firewall and a 180 deg turn towards the throttle body...

all ek civic's regardless of engine run a high mount type r style inlet manifold...

Vtir doesn't. There's no way honda did it just to be fancy on the type r, add me on fb Tom

thanks man...lol
at least some1 else is on my side...lol

vtir is completely different manifold design, hence the different throttle cable...

the ek throttle cable u wanna use and the way u wanna use it, Is the same as the way it is used factory on any given EK...

I dnt have face book

Oem ek run it along the firewall, I'm talking about how people run it under the manifold runners

it will look OEM

thats run above the runners and bent well beyond the how the oem cable is bent, ran for about 2 years like that no problems.

Well to be honest I never considered the firewall option lol, all the ones I've seen are going under, but the firewall is a much better option. If you guys read my first post properly you would have seen I said under the intake manifold, which would result in a really sharp bend in the cable, much more so than the oem firewall route. Is ek4 the only cable I can use? Anybody got one for sale?

Tbm - b series is sharper angle that that, the cable mounting brack on the im is lower down and on a sharper angle

Billy

Did you read my earlier post?

If it doesn't kink or bind, it's fine.

Maybe you should email Mr spoon and ask his opinion if you're still nor convinced

the b16a cable runs the same way as the b18c yeah? my one in my eg came out from the firewall went down the side then crossed over near the dipstick/headers and then near the ac lines before coming toward the TB.
tight bends are not good, the length of the cable isnt a big deal as long as its adjusted well, the amount of stretch that may occur is very slight and will take much time then when it does start to fatigue just adjust it tighter.
