hey all,

done a search but no definate answers on either one.

the story is: got a 91 gen2 crx with a D16A8, plan on having cams and camgears at some time in the near future.

Which AFC would be better - SAFC of VAFC?

some say VAFC is only for Vtec cars (can run non vtec).
Other say SAFC is for turbo cars and won't run NA.

Can someone give me some hard evidence here? i don't have vtec and wont have one - all i want is properly tuned af mixtures when the cams and camgears go in. Im not planning on going hardcore with Cams as that changes ignition timing and 1 thing i know is neither VAFC or SAFC take care of ignition timing.

thanks

Mike

im not sure about the Cams yet - not going to go HARD - only say stage 1 or 2.

I was under the impression you can still use a VAFC but then the 'V' for vtec control won't be used - isn't that the case?

It sounds like you need to research a whole lot more -
stage 1 or 2 ? Please establish what brand ,etc and also lift + duration etc....
check up on http://www.thezcr.com/forums/ for some good insight to availible goods n cams etc for the mighty D.

safc and a vtec controller would be pretty good.

The safc has a knock sensor whereas the vafc does not.

My D16A8 doesn't have a Knock sensor anyway - so its all good in that respect.

I have a mate who had a VAFC installed on his D16A8 Crx and its got extra 7HP@wheels out of it... thats not bad!
