Hi..

I am a complete newbie with audio on Subwoofer. I am thinking to get Sub for my hatch...Anyone could recommend good, fair price on sub? I got front and rear speakers on my hatch..

If I get a sub, do I need to add Amp as well to run it?

if it was me i would look at purchasing a infinity sub either the refernces or kappa sud and look at a good 4 channel amp to power your fronts and sub

Before we all get carried away recommending a million and one brands, can we take a step backwards first and get a total listing of what is in the car already?

Vi, is there anything in the car already? You mentioned a 50 watt headunit so can I assume you have an aftermarket one already? What about splits / coaxials / amps etc? is there anything already in the car of is the system totally stock?

Apart of replacing the Head Unit, two front and rear speakers remain stock... The head unit capable to run sub and I never had one before...that's why I am thinking to give it a go............

go for schneider, best brand as in value for money, very clear sound with thumping accurate bass at affordable prices, get the 15" schneider sub with a good box, the sub is around $180 and u can pick up a decent box for about $100, and also try to get components speakers they're better. as for amps get a schneider 702A and u can run the sub off that and just run your speakers off ur dek.

your headunit is not going to be able to power a sub, dont bother.
if your budget was about a 1000. i would personally go about it this way

-$250 front splits
-$300 sub
-$450 4ch amp

install yourself, this will only be decent system, 1000 not much to play with. If your an audio fanatic save more and spend money on items as you can afford them. otherwise your grand will be totally wasted if you want to upgrade in the future.

Vi, sadly the entire concept of the 'headunit capable of running a sub' is more marketing myth that fact. Sure the headunit will 'run' a sub; this much is true. But it will not run one with any serious conviction or hard hitting bass. :(
