is the muffler for looks for performance?
if its for looks, 230 is too much, u can get generic ones for 150 new (less if used)

whats the dimensions of it, and quality of steel? got pic?

its a le05 xforce. its for look and performance.

as long as the inside diameter is ok like not too big i wouldnt go anything bigger than 2 1/4 inlet as you would be losing back pressure
you would have better performance using 21/4 in and 21/4 out and just having a nice tip welded on as this way you still have a decent looking exhaust a more mild throaty sound as compared to the drone of the straight through cannon ball style muffler

the smaller muffler will allow your car to be driven at 100 without having a head ache from the noise go for a drive in out with a similar set up before choosing

Oversize exhausts loose torque due to low exhaust gas velocity, not low back pressure.

Just beware you pay for what you get - X-force stuff doesnt dyno very well compared to alot of other Japanese aftermarket brands.....

is that worth the price

nah i wouldn't pay that much. i can get ones that look exactly like that for 150 or less, brand new. If you want looks then just go the cheapo ones, but lookz n performance u'd prob be better off spending a lil more.

isnt low exhaust velocity, low back pressure>?

isn't it the other way around???

Low exhaust velocity = high back pressure
High exhaust velocity = low back pressure

Read it somewhere in one of my science textbooks a couple of yrs ago.

Anyway if they aint they same then i agree with garrett anyway. Puttin on an oversized exhaust makes you lose back pressure. Thatz why muffler shops and stuff like that recommend you put in a resinator, the resinator helps reduce the loss of back pressure.

damn right

The resonator is there to reduce the noise level and improve the tone, not to make back pressure.

i got my exhaust done...
from radiant exhaust...
did a pretty good job i reckon...
got a 2.25 with resonator...love the bass!!!!

for goodness sake. back pressure is bad. why do you want back presure?

You dont want a exhaust diameter which is too big because you don't want the expansion of gases to cool the exhaust gas too much as it will get denser and then be harder to push out of the exhaust system. Think about how a fridge works, its the same theory.

A resonator absorbs specific frequency resonations in the exhaust system. just like any pipe of any length and exhaust system has a specific frequency of resonation and resonators are designed to cut them out. have you seen the inside of a resonator? they are just a straight pipe with a few holes in it, which feed the gases into a very small resonation chamber packed with damping crap.

dude, it's a piece of pipe with some perforations and muffler material around it.

i doubt very much that there'd be any difference at all on the dyno- from swapping one straight through muffler to another.

i got a le05 xforce cannon
set me back 100bux unused in the the xforce packaging on some forums.

230 is way too much for a standard stainless xforce cannon

230 id be looking at titanium.

you should be able to get an xforce for 100$ from ebay. $120odd all up.
they dont cost that much wholesale. the reseller jack up the price pretty badly.

i got one of the angle tip ones for a mate of mine. no problem there.
i made sure it was some unbranded yumcha. some pics revealed the xforce badge. message the dude to make sure of the brand.

tell us how u go dude.

i used to have a EK vti-R with a 2.25" cat back with an x-force rear muffler, u could hear it 5 blocks away. I regret that.....never again!!

piping i understand... i really do not see a muffler making any difference to performance as long as u get the right size...

you have to consider the quality of the weldings too..
