Awesome, some nice goodies there! Strange how the CNC port job chopped the guides like that, I've never seen that before. Will be an animal no doubt.

What are you going to do for traction with circa 800hp? The S80 gearing will be awful whether it's 4.4 or 4.7- 1st will be useless, probably 2nd too. The humble B box will not put up with that sort of torque. Got any plans?

yeah typeR ratios wont suit for street

rather LS ratios IMO

awesome colour btw mate

Can I ask why Gforce? Only rated up to US 600hp and 3/4 the cost of an Australian option (Albins or PPG) which are good for AUS 1000hp+.

Who said there only rated at 600hp my guy in the states uses them in civic with over 900hp running 8.60s

Fair enough not trying to be argumentative - I'm a big fan of a big HP build in oz. Gforce themselves say 600hp though: https://www.gforcetransmissions.com/tran_honda%20b.asp

But if you know someone who's is holding together with your kind of power, then all good.

Extremer!

Really nice built....Wish you all the best .... LOVE THE COLOUR !!!!!

But to be honest , I would take a second thought on what Chez00 said about PPG ( I am not saying that GForce isn't good) but in my eyes and my personal experience PPG is one of the best ....

My opinion...
If this is a street car, juat keep a stock gearbox...
Dog boxes are a bit of a "dog" to.drive on the street...

Prob beta off having a couple of spare oem.boxes...

Thats wat im.doing in.my EK...

with 800hp?

Ul be surprised what a factory type r gearbox
Can hold

u mad?
19-02-2014, 06:10 AM
yeah but whats the fun in that, constantly in the back of your mind ''i better not flog it too hard, don't wanna break the box''

IEVAQ8
19-02-2014, 08:37 AM
with 800hp?
even with 1000hp...
The key to a box holding together is how solid.mounted the engine and box.is...
The less movement/twist, the less chance of it breaking

Ul be surprised what a factory type r gearbox
Can hold
Exactly...

All true. As IEVAQ8 says, case flex (leading to shaft separation) with the torque levels you're talking is the issue. A bearing cuff will help but obviously you lose 5th (most options won't leave 5th except PPG).

The reason why some of the above mentioned gear sets are stronger than standard, apart from metallurgy is because they do not force the shafts apart because of the profile of the tooth - they are either semi-helical or straight cut. The standard helical cut forces the shafts apart, and is quite steep on the 4.78 pinion.

apparently these guys do a 3.42:1 FD, don't know what they are like though: http://www.watsonsrally.co.uk/html/price_list.html

Good chassis reinforcement is definitely key.
