Hi, my name is Scotty.
The motor in my 88 Integra has blown up and needs a new motor.
If anyone can help with a motor?
It was a 1.6l, but can I put something quicker in that will be a straight engine swap?
Any ideas on price and where to buy one?
Much appreciated, and parts leftover available.
Thanks, Scotty.

Did it really 'blow' up?

Sorry to hear it has gone out on you
Sure you cannot call a nearby wrecker?

I found a brown motor, the old was was a black motor but apparently there's not much difference.. Was thinking a bigger litre motor if can fit straight in??

Whereabouts are you Scotty? Gen1 Integra presumably? (pop-up headlights). So a D16A1or 3 engine? If you've found a brown-top (referring to the colour of the cam cover), that'll be a ZC which is the JDM (Jap domestic market) version of the D16's (export markets). It's claimed that they have a bit more power and stronger internals but this is open to dispute. The brown top should be a direct replacement for the D16A1-3. Later D16A8's (yours being an 88 model may have this in it, 'cause the D16A8's began to be fitted in late 87) The corresponding ZC's were blacktops and the only way to easily tell them apart from D16A8's is by the engine number. I have read that there are clutch/flywheel/gearbox compatibility issues between the early and later versions, so check those engine numbers.

As far as fitting a larger capacity engine to the D16/ZC g/boxes, no, no direct swap. Only way to go there is a B series engine/trans with quite a bit of modification.

Easiest conversion would be a JDM ZC engine if you can find one. Sorry, not sure where they would be available from. Will give around 8-12kw more depending on the engine given their age.

You can fit a B series in but it's a bit of work. Someone on here has put one into a gen 3 civic which has a very similar engine bay. Redpepperracing.com is a good resource for the gen 1CRX/ gen 3 Civic and you can extrapolate a lot of that info to your car.
