Hey All

I replaced my standard clutch/flywheel setup with a clutch masters/exedy lightened flywheel with new pressure plate and stage 1 clutch plate. In my b16a, Y1 – cable box. It’s supposed to be a straight swap.

I can select all gears when engine is off but once its running I cannot select any gears, I did force it into reverse with a slight crunch, but the engine stalled once the clutch was let out.

If I select first gear then turn the engine on, ease the clutch out, the engine stalls.

Any ideas, I have researched, seems it could be the release fork or the pressure plate, but know one has a definitive answer.

Could someone please help out

Cheers

maybe you put the release fork back on wrong

unfortunately you'll have to pull it apart again and check everything..

stupid question - but you got the correct part for your cable clutch ( not hydro clutch kit) right ?

I ask as the input shaft guide on the clutch disc is slightly smaller on the cable variant - compared to the hydro.

I supposedly received the correct part for the cable clutch, it was the same setup as the standard one and when I fitted it, all seemed good, it does seem that have to take it out again, cheers

The obvious answer is you have ****ed it up...
How is anyones guess...
1 - ordered the wrong parts
2 - loose clutch cover bolts
3 - fit the clutch disc the wrong way
4 - fit release bearing incorrectly
5 - lost the G/B alignment dowels & installed anyway
6 - slapped it back together with no regard to adjusting the clutch
7 - etc etc....

Hopefully it's a simple mistake like adjusting the clutch cable.
Otherwise the answer is it's comming back out.

here is the issue, has anyone else found an after market (exedy) clutch plate doesnt fit properly, this one seems to tight to slide over the input shaft, not like the original - no problem

it seems the teeth on the new clutch plate are slightly more square (teeth angle differs) which means it wont slide on the input shaft

sounds like you got the wrong clutch.
Exedy/daikin make most of the OEM clutches for Honda, i doubt they would stuff up that badly

Thats what I thought, waiting on reply from clutch masters, otherwise will send it back and try someone else, I am hoping to keep the lightened flywheel and pressure plate and just finding a new clutch plate, after all this I would prefer to see a clutch plate in person and take the gearbox with me, make sure it fits correctly.

Any recommendations in Melbourne?

Anyone recommend a retailer for clutch plates etc? Prefer they have them on the shelf so I can make sure the clutch fits the input shaft
