Hi guys,

Will be heading to get a comprehensive insurance. Can anyone throw some light on which company would be the best in WA, also reasonable?

I was thinking QBE, real, sgio, AAMI?

I hear a lot of horrible stories regarding Real, QBE and also about the other 2 saying that they were made to pay the excess even when it was not their fault.. Bit confused!!

Have you ever heard at the end of the advertising they tell you to read the product disclose statement or PDS? ... I'd recommend doing that before you pursue any insurance.

All those stories are generally bullshit from morons who don't comprehend what they're purchasing, if you actually read about what you're buying, you'll know what you're entitled to should you make a claim.

Easily, but as well, before you sign anything, read over the entire contract and confirm scenarios with them as well

Aami, Suncorp etc aren't bad, just call up, get some quotes, find out your options etc.

I agree. I dropped into the local branch of my *bank*. The gave me the pds (2007, 54pp) and the amendments (2 pages). It's not hard to read. Next, I plan to read the Police form for reporting an accident. I believe with car insurance there's merit in starting with the details and working up to "how much do they charge?" and "is it worth it?" By that way, I wouldn't be giving my project car to anyone under 25 who's NOT on listed on the policy. Many things need to be understood even before driving.

I was with NRMA first year, just changed to AAMI.
Same thing, just a weeks pay cheaper with higher agreed value too.

AAMI now don't have list legal mods....

if you dont super/turbocharge etc they will cover all legal mods.... didnt know that till recently.

Yeah that was a bonus
Shannons and just car either wanted too much or wouldn't give higher value
NRMA is just a rip off.

The thing about reviews are, people are more willing to tell their horror storys then leave positive comments.
Secondly, if you read the pds, aami will assess and pay UPTO the market or agreed value on their discretion.
Meaning if they think your 10k civic is worth 3k then thats it.
Racv also doesn't mind mods now as long as the cars mods are legal. When in a accident they wont cover your modded items, meaning bust a rim and you'll get the cost of a stockie back.
