Doing a major service to a DC2 and does anyone have any 'tricks' to removing the final drive bolts off the Diff? (and i thought the crank bolt was hard..)

used a snap-on Rattle gun and wont budge

Have you disassembled the gearbox?

Check to see if they are reverse thread but from memory they should undo with a rattle gun

They are left hand thread in b series. You've probably ruined the bolts if you are using a rattle gun in the wrong direction. I have sets in stock if you need.

Either sit the diff in a vice and use a decent breaker bar to snap them - or use a big impact gun (1/2inch atleast) and it will make short work of the bolts

went out and bought a Vice to clamp the Diff with 2 blocks of timber breaker bar and hammer worked well... its the first time my Snapon Rattle gun didn't take a bolt off :(

i find a hammer is a very useful tool, for getting bolts off, something have to just be smashed really hard by a hammer on a solid fitting socket to minimise the loss
