Newbie here, I would appreciate any help. I've been looking for a new car for a few months, and fell for the Accord Euro pretty early on. Up until recently I was looking at the 2003-2008 model, but have had trouble finding one with good kms. I was always impressed with the ride, even on the high mileage ones.

I am currently looking at a 2009 model that has done 50,000 kms in excellent condition. It is still on the factory Turanza tyres but they are due for replacement. The only problem with this car is the slightly harsh ride, it is a bit jarring, and I am wondering if it is the tyres or if this model has harder suspension than the 2003-2008. I did try another 2009 with more tread on the tyres (New Michelin Primacy 3 on the front, older Yokohama on the back) but it wasn't much better.

the harshness of the ride has little to do with the tyres, it's related to the damping and springrates

Is it a luxury model?

Luxury model is riding on 18 inch wheel with lower 45 profile tyres compare to the standard model that is using 50 profile.
The higher the number, the more tyre side walls which absorbs the road bumps.

There can be some difference between tyres which can affect the ride comfort, but as twing mentioned, outside of the actual suspension, the aspect ratio makes the most difference. You can go for GT tyres, or ones with softer compounds but they may wear out faster. Another option could be to run a slightly lower pressure in them, e.g. the OEM 16" on the CL9 were recommend 32-34PSI, I would run 31-32PSI.

It has really worn factory fitted 225/50R17 98V tyres on it at the moment. You would think that 50 would be a high enough sidewall? I could take it to a service station and check the tyre pressures in case that is a factor here, could anyone tell me what the recommended pressures are for the Accord with this type of tyre? But just wondering, people with experience of this model, is it known for being a harsh ride? Firm is good, I like the way the car handles, but less jarring would also be good. The roads around here are not that smooth.
