Hey guys recently I bought a 1987 accord Aerodeck with a b18a (dual carb). When it arrived it was idling fine. I had it stored undercover for the last 3 months and I been servicing the engine. I replaced the fuel, coolant, thermostat, oil, oil filter, spark plugs, ignition leads, battery, radiator cap and fuses. There have been a few times where I've pulled off a hose or plug so I can access a particular area. I took off the air filter to check its condition but I put it back on.
Now, when I started it I forgot that I had accidentally knocked a spark plug lead connector off from the distributor. So when I went to start the car, it would sort of turn over but died. I quickly fixed this. Then the battery was dead so I used an old battery to jump it. Now here's where the problem starts. When I start the car, the rpm jumps to 2,000-2,500 rpm and then starts slowly rising. In the space of maybe 30 seconds, the rpm was already at 3,000rpm. I quickly turned off the car. I thought it could be just because it was cold and hadn't been started in a while. So I started it again, and it did the exact same thing, this time I noticed the engine wasn't cold anymore and I saw the temp gauge rising above cold. I turned it off again.
WHATS WRONG ? Where did I **** up ? Anyone got any suggestions ? My dad thinks it could be the firing order of the distributor. But I'm doubtful... I replaced the leads exactly. I took one off and then replaced it with a corresponding lengthed lead. Someone on this forum thought it could be a split vacuum hose ?
Any ideas ?
