View Full Version : USA Acura TLX should be our next Euro

Just came across the following article on Left Lane News about the 2015 US Acura TLX, which replaces both their TSX and TL models. This car would be a great replacement for our Euro ( with a better grille)
What do you all think

Does Honda America export locally manufactured cars for RHD markets? There might be a smidgen of chance that we might get it but I can't recall any Australian Hondas that come from America from the top of my head - not sure about other RHD markets..

Toyota are now importing the new Kluger from US and ford and holden will be doing the same in a few yrs so anything is possible.

We do currently have V6 AWD Legend models in Australia (if only it was 100% AWD), but an Australian TLX (manual) would finally convince me it's time to give up the AH's

There's a lot of potential in what Acura does, unfortunately Honda Australia doesn't usually deliver a comparison.

Whoa
No freakin' way
USA's hondas/acuras are always a fuglier version than their jdm counterpart
And that TLX looks like a freakin' boat
Honda's need to go on a diet, every gen they get heavier, wider and bland

After the poor performance of the MDX, might be unlikely that they will start a RHD line in the US for the TLX.

Its a great looking car,and is going to be the new US Euro,SO WHY NOT COME HERE,hONDA IMPORTED THE 6TH GENERATION aCCORD FROM America FOR Australia,SO IT SURE IS A POSSABILITY.
Unfortunatly Honda are so fast asleep they will probably miss this opportunity,as they did withy the current Euro wagon, diesel, and V6 VERSIONS for OZ.

Jasemas

That's a fair call
But?
Have you seen the 6th gen JDM accord that we missed out on?
Out handles, out performs the boat of the usdm accord
Hence why we have the euro and normal accord

"Mr Collins said that there was no decision on the future of the next Euro, but confirmed that if there is a new model, it will not be based on the TLX.

" 'At this point there is no decision on the next Euro. There was some speculation about the Acura TLX at Detroit. That's not the next Euro. That car is for the US market and is left-hand drive only.' " - Honda Australia director Stephen Collins

I don't think they missed it, i don't think they saw it fit for purpose in the australian market - in a country of people who love their big engines, the american accords with those v6 engines was the way to go

just my 2c though

I think that there is a clue on the Honda Japan website on the fate of the Honda Accord Euro which was called the Honda Accord in Japan. If you look at the Honda Japan website, the new Accord for Japan is the same as the North American Accord. Once upon a time, the North American Accord would have been called the Honda Inspire in Japan. There is no such name anymore. I don't think that there is going to be a replacement for the Honda Accord Euro.

Isn't Spiror the same as the Inspire, which in turn is the same as the Thai Accord? Since Japan killed the Inspire name and are now calling that Thai Accord model the Accord, it doesn't seem to be any hint that the smaller JDM Accord (Euro/TSX) will return.

Oh well, I'm waiting for the new Civic Type R anyway.

Oops, yes. I got confused with the naming. Anything that looks like JDM Accord/CDM Spirior in the past now looks like the JDM Inspire/CDM Accord (which is the Thai Accord), indicating that the Accord Euro is not available and has not yet been redesigned for 2014/2015.

"Spirior" is a corruption of the Latin word "Superior".

I've squeezed into the current European Civic upon which the Type R is based. It's too cramped for me.

Given that they sell so many in the USA, you'd expect that they would have some influence on the World market. BTW, just an observation, you sound like a Yank! Welcome visitor.

I was looking forward to an updated Accord Euro, the TLX looks nice. Even the new Accords have a nicer styling compared to the previous models, if only they came with the US transmission options and standard features.

I spoke face to face with a Honda Australia exec visiting the North yesterday. He said that they have no information on whether there will be a new Euro but they haven't ruled it out and they hope that there will be because of previous sales history in Australia.

It sounds to me that they have little control over what they sell in Australia...

Loved the posts on Page 1, No American made hondas were sold in Aus, just lol.

Many American developed Honda's have been sold in Australia. EM1 for example.

Maybe not many full american honda's have not been sold here, but a few modern Honda's have their power plants developed in the Americas.

I would like Australia to catch up on technology. fashion, entertainment but the sad fact is we are a 3rd world country with 1st world wants and expectations. Meh as long as our $ stays strong, we can get anything we want.

The 5th gen Accords were made in Japan and America
But the SiR Accords were made in America as RHD and imported back to Japan - werid huh?

Is America pumping out any current RHD cars?

How come we don't get the Civic/Accord coupe?

Jasemas
16-06-2014, 10:49 AM
Because Honda Aus don't see the market for it
Why should they spend all this money on retooling for only a few thousand cars sold
Back in the 90's if you wanted an accord coupe - you get a prelude
Same with the EM1
Guess its all about that profit margin

kera_1
17-06-2014, 11:17 AM
Purely due to Australian population, demand and market competition. If we were to have all the cars that gets pumped out from Honda and Acura, the cost is going to sky rocket.
Imagine, Fit(Jazz), City, Civic sedan, hatch, Stream, Insight, Crz, Accord, Accord Euro (sedan), Wagon, etc....you catch my drift?

And re-iterate, Profit margin.
