The Honda Sports Concept (HSC) draws on decades of Hondas engineering heritage to deliver the ultimate driving experience in an easy to drive package.

The two-seater coupe features a mid-mounted DOHC i-VTEC V6 engine delivering in excess of 300 horsepower.

A motorized sequential shift transmission with paddle-mounted or dash-mounted gear shifters gives the driver the instant control required of a true sports car without losing ease of operation. Stopping power is provided by six-piston Brembo disc brakes.

The four-wheel double-wishbone suspension combines with low-profile rubber on 19-inch front wheels and 20-inch rear wheels to provide superb handling and response.

Nubuck leather coupled with carbon and aluminium interior materials blend to create the interior comfort and functionality expected from a Honda sports car.

The high-tech instrument panel speeds up driver decision-making by clustering gauges together on the dash, reducing the need to adjust focal distance between the display and the world outside.

I d like to see a v8 matching the performance of these expensive v12s :P

how much is 300 hp in terms of killowatts? just curious if it has more power then the last nsx. I liked the idea of a v8 nsx with 300 killowatts. But honda abondoned the whole v8 nsx thing :(

Its old old news...

SHame they wont use a v8, why cant they make it a proper supercar? If we can shove a v8 in a bloody 4 door commodore why cant honda use it in something that dam expensive... needs to be done i say, the v6 is good and all, but exotics arnt about power to weight ratio, and when it comes to all the true exotics, they kill the nsx in speed hands down. And that concept is kinda going in the rite direction still kinda weird tho.

i have a feeling this "exotic" will be offered at a lower price than a true supercar. If it could keep up with the new M5 (keeping weight down as it'll have a huge power disadvantage) then the perforamnce should be more than adequate if its goin to be priced similarly. long live the v6 i say

it's all about the handling guys. Honda never have the biggest numbers.

looks just like a facelift NSX i reckon.

Besides, i've read in a few places that a V8 is too unstable for VTEC and has too high emissions seeings as they have cars like the insight and low emission jazz. They are thinking for the future, not for right now.

its easier to make a v6 rev high due to the crank design and harmonic advantages over a v8 crank.

I assume amongst other reasons, this is why honda dont do a V8

i agree... should be something like HS-X (Honda Sports Model X) or something - X anyway.... LOL

NSX would be just fine...

Yes, but keep in mind the m5 is massive and luxurious, if ur giving up some creature comforts, u'd wanta be more than just a bit faster than it.

This has to compete with the new GTR and SUPRA which will be released, and due to its upper price... win.

I agree with 91'lude it should be a v8 or even a v10 its not like they havent had experience building them even though its only been for racing.
In oz it costs the same price for a new NSX off the showroom floor as a 911, & for the price they demand for a NSX (Honda's premier sports/super car) they shouldnt an issue doing the r&d to make it past emissions and power output either v8 or v10 etc

Why cant they just design the engine like 2 s2000 engines. That would be a killer.

I wanna see a Honda 8000rpm V10! If BMW and Porsche can make highly revving V10's that can pass European emissions, I see no reason why Honda can't engineer something at least as good.

Though with Hondas, they always seem to want to achieve more with less.

its not that, its their japanese power restriction. They are already at the upper limit with the v6, any more torque with those revs and its over that agreed power cap.

exactly, i cant see honda making a supercar they cant sell in japan.
another reason why they focus more on the handling side of things

The 280hp 'gentlemans' agreement was scrapped mid last year.

Can't find the proper link, but google came up with this:

keep in mind that this was designed before Honda even knew about the agreement being lifted.. so expect hp figures to rise

so is the hsc project scrapped or not? i heard it was. or is it likely to be developed into a production model??

ok, this sexy looking coupe is supposed to go into production but its not meant to compete with the super exotics like Ferrari and Lamborghini.. From what I've read, Honda will be rationalising its lineup in the near future and the HSC (those letters make me shudder..) will be a replacement for both the NSX and the S2k. It will be priced below the current NSX but above the S2k. Thats the main reason that its got a V6 instead of something with bigger cajones..

As for the 'gentleman's agreement' power cap, you can't seriously believe that that has been abided by for the last 10 years.. the 206kw limit was just what was quoted in official press material but the cars made significantly more in the real world (look at the GTR in its various incarnations from nismo and the m and n spec models.. they made heaps more than 206kw)
