Hey guys ive got a 97 5th gen vtir and got a minor oil leak from the vtec solenoid gasket
do you guys have any experience changing the gasket ?

youll vtec harder when you change it!

open it up and inspect the seals
clean the mesh nicely and get any gunks out
if the seals gone,replace

Those automative stores don't store many import parts
Ebay is a good option or Honda America
As Honda Australia WILL charge you $35 for a $5 gasket

they ad $20 for shipping ffs to send two rubber pieces in an envelope ....

wuw just got the shipping quote $64 0_o so total comes up to $84

If your buying from the usa of course shipping will be like that
You may as well add other parts to the cart that you may need/or need
As buy from america is still cheaper than buying from honda aus - even after factoring in shipping

yeh just bought it off ebay for $50 hopefully i ca put a stop to the leaking vtec solenoid :)

Just a heads up when changing the solenoid
Do it with a dead cold engine - that way the little 10mm headed bolts are not weakened by heat , and there isn't a bunch of oil ready to leak out when you take it off. Take it easy on the bolts. Undo slowly and tighten slowly too. Finger tight + a nick up with a small socket or spanner should do it
