Things that go clank..makin me crank.

I got a dc2r and now i think my one is a piece of crap.

anyways. problems which i wanna know if its normal.

1. my tail light blew. before it blew it made my clock light really dim every time i pressed on it. funny though coz i remember i replaced it a month back.. faulty wiring? dunno.

2. whenever i reverse all the time i hear this clank under my car. once when i changed from 3-4 i heard the clank. now its starting to scare me coz i just helped my mate get his car towed because of his driving shaft being snapped. It might be the gear box but im sure i popped it into gear properly and all, its just whenever i reverse then stop, then reverse i hear the clank. The clank is more distinct when reversing.

3. I got this cricket noise coming from my engine and i know its not coming from the pulleys. it happens when i rev my motor. probably something needs to be oiling?

Ive got other problems with it but im getting that sorted out now. Please tell me something else guys/girls, is a dc2r really good? coz i know i picked up a bomb and the only thing thats stopping me from doing an insurance job of it is the fact that it looks hot, but if it goes like a piece of crap then whats the point. its all show but no go. And another thing i want to ask..

Is it worth it. after fixing the R and getting it up to stock standard to mod it? coz im choosing to either fix it up and get rid of it.. or fix it up and mod it.. what do you guys/girls reckon from experience.. R worth modding up? honda parts are friggin expensive as well. if you guys think its good then ill give an arm and a leg for it LOL

The crickets sounds like the alternator or accessory belt slipping.

Does it happen even when the car is running? Do you have a stereo system in the car? If you have a voltmeter, start the car up and measure the voltage across the battery terminals. Should be around 14.5V. Then switch your headlights on and see if this drops more than say 0.5V or more. If it is or you are not reading 14.5V with the car running it is most likely your alternator.

Sometimes when you are reversing after having been going forward and you step on the brakes, you could hera a 'clunk' and this is usually the brake pads moving around. Get it looked at if its really bad. You mentioned something about while driving going from 3-4 and it clunking also.....so i'm thinking it might not be that.
Some heavy duty clutches tend to 'clunk' a bit when engaging so that is also a possibility (doesn't mean that something isn't wrong with your clutch)

Hard to say without hearing the noise.

IMO you should get it fully checked out by a mechanic. Since you're in Sydney I suggest you go visit Hannys :)

that 'clunk' could be your rear engine mount needing to be replaced

Thanks guys/girls. chi gave me the address for hanny's. ill probably try going when ive got dosh and not bz asap. in the mean time, im just gonna use another car to get me around.

yeh, i pretty much found out that my car is "special" than other integra's.. its broken LOL

Aaron and Whynode..you might be right, im starting to think 1. and 3. has something to do with the alternator.

anyways. ill take it down to hanny and let them make a list of whats wrong with the car. Gonna send me bankrupt LOL. kinda feel like crap when all this money could go to better use.

Take good care of your cars people or you'll end up with a lot of problems all in one go.

well regarding to your question bout a dc2r being a good car to mod... from what i've heard bout the car (never drove it myself) it seems to be worth every cent :)
