Hi everyone,
Not having much luck with my Honda's at the moment with both my cars not running. :(
My Civic cranks, but does not start. I have spark, but i cannot hear the fuel pump priming when I turn on the ignition. I have tried searching about this problem and everyone else seems to have problems with the main relay, but the main relay is OK, i can hear it clicking (2 separate clicks) and have checked for power there etc, but there is no power getting to the fuel pump... anyone have any ideas where to go from here?

So it's not cranking ? Have you tried puming the fuel a little then starting ? Also if there is nothing with the relays and ignition, get a rubber mallet and whack the alternator a few times. May give it a crack. Try those things and see how you go. If not get it to a local mechanic that way they can tell you what's giong on if you can't :P

Thanks for the reply mate, the car cranks fine. Battery, starter, alternator etc is all OK. It is just the fuel pump not getting power. When I crank the car, there is no 12v at the fuel pump plug. I was hoping someone else may have had this problem before with the fuel pump not getting power and the main relay still working.

make sure there is power going out of the relay.

lol whack the alternator... that's a new one

Get a diagram of the main relay and test power going in and out

Yeah, I have checked pretty much everything I can at the main relay, power in/out, grounds etc, even bridged the 2 terminals by-passing the relay all together and still no power at the fuel pump, so I am fairly confident the problem lies elsewhere, but unsure where to start checking next...

A main relay can still click even if its damaged/broken. Check the output terminal on the main fuel relay to see if there is power output. If there is, then the problem is further down the line between the relay and fuel pump.
Should have 12v+ power from terminal 7 when on START

Thanks for that mate, but i have checked everything at the main relay and everything seems good from there. I'm unsure of where to check after that, like you said between the relay and the pump. There is a bit of a mess of wires under the dash, i am guessing because of the conversion, so it makes it a bit hard to follow the wires...

I thought it was whack the starter motor?

Have you checked the wires to the fuel pump? done some multimeter jabbing from relay end to pumpish end, and see if there is anything blocking (ie, short)? Could tell you if the wire got crushed or something

Don't hit your alternator with a rubber mallet or anything else for that matter! no mallet impact could/would ever help with worn alternator brushes.
As Drifter mentioned , Its the starter motor on its way out you can tap with a rubber mallet or something handy to unstick and get going again but only in emergencies with no other options!

Sounds like a hack job conversion if you've got wires willy nilly lol

If you can't track the wires back maybe trip the ECU error checking and see what code shows up

What ECU are you running ? OBDI, OBDIIA ?

try and source another fuel pump to determine if current fuel pump is dead

Hey guys, thanks for all the input. Been a bit busy lately, but finally got around to having another look. it ended up being a problem with the aftermarket alarm/immobilizer... any recommendations for a new replacement?
