Hey guys,
I'm going to look at an Integra Type R (2000) tomorrow and was wondering about the costs of a few things. It has 190k on it at the moment so not too far off the 200k service. I presume the usual stuff need doing - timing belt, water pump, plugs, coolant and valve clearance check?
Do you guys have a rough price for all this so I can factor it in when doing some haggling?
Also, a recommendation for a good specialist in Brisbane would be great.
Thanks in advance

Its only 200,000KM. If your motor is well taken care off, wont be anymore then $500-600. Only replace parts wen required. If the water pump isn't leaking no point replacing it. Belts + pulleys + tappets + gaskets should be addressed as well as all fluids.
Inspect your own car before you take it in. I would also recommend heavy degreasing + high pressure wash the engine 1-2 days before taking to mechs. If there are any leaks it will be easier to identify and rectify. Plus a clean bay always is sexh.

The water pump is located behind the timing belt cover on B series engines. The timing belt and everything has to come off to replace it.
It'd be silly not to spend $80 or so to replace it at no extra effort rather than having to have it all done again later.
Imagine how frustrated you would be if you just paid $500-$600 for a timing belt job etc and then a month later your water pump started leaking. If coolant soaks into the belt then you'd probably replace that again too.
Whenever I do timing belts on B series I replace everything behind the timing cover except the oil pump of course. Saves many headaches over the next 100,000km.

That's what I was thinking, thanks mate. Do you have any particular place where you would buy the timing belt kit / water pump?

Looks like Neat Gearboxes has everything for you except the water pump. You can get GMB water pumps on ebay or through repco/autopro I think. or OEM from JDMyard or websites like autofair honda parts and honda parts direct.
