Rattling is not good :? How hard is it to shift and engage the gears both at the roll and standstill?

You may have done teeth or even the forks, it's going to be hard to tell without stripping it all down.

In my experience, it may well be cheaper to buy a second hand box :?

It's a CTR conversion - as I recollect he's done a lot of the change over, but it's still an EK4 with the B16A setup... so far :)

see your avatar... thats how. I'd say either REALLY hard driving/draging or poor downshifting? My clutch is dead from learning to heal and toe.
although i understand this is a hell of a lot worse than just a clutch.

Def. cheaper to source a 2nd hand box than to rebuild your old one...unless you have a mechanic friend whos willing to do it for a good price but from wot i know it'll cost you anywhere between 1300-1700 for another box...GL and treat the next one more carefully ;)

if its just the main bearing, that will cost you bout 550 (parts and labour) to replace....
my main bearing is gone too, it rattles a fair bit but gears still change pretty good.
i'll be replacing the bearing and also the clutch within the next couple of weeks. doing it with a mate so won't cost me much at all, parts only.

All gears are fine and i dont have any problems shifting. I havent flat shifted nor grinded the gears. The box is being drained and the oil inspected this arvo to see how much metal is in it.
If anything i know im up for new bearings. Does anyone make these aftermarket ? or anyone know of somewhere i should buy some from ?
Yeah its a VTiR box.

Its ripped my heart out as im booked in for all driving events at the biggest car show of the year next weekend.

Hopefully you can get it sorted before then mate :) I'd go genuine bearings - they really are the best bet for your box.

GL - I hope it all works out :)

Weird - my SiR is still on the original box :?

is the rattling you're getting constant at all speeds or certain speeds? Are any of the gears *grindy* at all? reason I ask is that a friend of mine was getting rattling at low speeds thought it was the main bearing just to find that his wheeldisck was warped :?
