Anyone ever had their engine rebuilt? How did it turn out? is it worth it?

This is beyond vague...

It would help if you added some extra information like what car, what engine and what do you mean by "worth". Are you measuring cost to benefit or just overall quality?

Anyone ever had their engine rebuilt? Yes

How did it turn out? rebuilt

is it worth it? Short answer: "Yes with an 'if'". Long answer: "No with a 'but'".

Try to expland on why youre asking

do you need a standard oem rebuild due to engine wear/damage?

How many licks does it take to get to the centre of it?

what problem are you trying to solve by rebuilding?

and what do you mean by rebuilding? Some people consider replacing all the seals a rebuid whereas others consider replacing pistons a rebuild

Thanks for replies.

Yeah basically an oem rebuild due to wear and tear. 260xxx on clock. Head gasket is on it's way out. Basically wanna replace all that can be replaced.

If its a back to factory rebuild, it will perform near new. But if you're going to do that, may as well do some other work to it ;)

This is where it's so frustrating being a noob. So perhaps it's worth helping to re-frame the questions?
The engine is listed as 160 hp (119 kW).

If for example, leeman asked for cost effective options for a daily, what would you recommend?
- head hone and refit at minimum cost ... $
- head hone and refit with major service, at minimum cost ... $
- all the bells and whistles ... $
- have a reputed workshop supply and fit and low km engine (imported), for over $1000

So, what does leeman want to spend and what does leeman want to achieve?
