In the last few weeks it has developed a loud clunk when going over a small pot hole or slightly deeper than normal man hole cover. Suspect a bush has worn thru and its locating bolt is banging against the chassis ? As there are a number of bushes can anyone point me to which one it would most likey be .....cheers ?

if one is worn, pretty much all others will be close/worn out as well, also check out swaybar links. Does the clunk happen on one or both sides ?

Just that one side. Are kits still available for these civics ?

thanks Grifty.....what is the American equivalent of an Aussie 1991 ED/GL 4 door Civic as the Amazon site is quite specific ???

It would be a DX i think (not too sure), the bushes aren't model specific, they are year specific.

Backed the Civic on ramps the other day and with a pry bar checked all the bushes and linkages for excessive movement and through my untrained eye could not see any split bushes etc that could be making the noise. Was also thinking of taking up Peddars $28 inspection report to get it sussed out ???

could also be your exhaust tapping or clunking against the rear LCA or subframe. Grab the muffler and shake it side to side , see if there is any contact

Will give it a go though not sure why things on the exhaust front have "changed" but weird things can happen.

The bush that holds above the axle may of sheared giving excessive play and a clunk. Has happened to me before , so it's free to check so why not :0)

He means check the exhaust hangers, one may have sheared due to old age
