Weird squeak and rattle?

This might be a long shot but just wondering if anyone has had this problem in their vtir/gsi. I have this funny squeaky/rattly noise coming from the back of the car and i can't figure out where it's coming from. I can be on a smooth road, or rough road (obviously more when it's rough) and i can still hear it like 70% of the time. I am on stock shocks with apex springs....but before we blame the springs...i first heard this noise when the car was completely stock....then it went away for a few weeks so i forgot about it...but now it's back and it's louder and more annoying than last time.

pretty sure it has to do with the suspension but was just wondering if anyone has come across the same thing?

coz i had apexi progrssive springs... b4.. and i had the same noise comin from them...

serious? yeah they are progressive
but what bothers me is that it wasn't a gradual thing...it just happened one day (yesterday) and hasn't stopped since.

sometimes it's a squeak...sometimes a slight rattle...sometimes a combination of both...is that what u got? what did u do about it?

yea.. kinda like taht...
but i tried everything... but they still there....
but try put some rubber around the springs... like the top bit where its closer... the noise seems to reduce a bit... but u still hear it once in a while..

so it's just a case of creaky springs ey? bah that's quite annoying

i have had someone drive the car while i was in the backseat
i put down the back seat and stuck my head in the boot...seems to be coming from all directions in the boot tho...which is what led me to suspect it was not/not JUST the springs

Hatch hook? - Its a common problem with my LS, but integras have hatches!
It sometimes rattles and it sometimes squeeks.

Or another guess may be your trailing arm bushing.. if its worn down or deteriating it may be it knocking and squeeking. Not sure if its the same problem with the DC2 but atleast try checking it out. :)

hey garv just to tell ya i had that same squeek squeek noise from the back of my car.. and its still there.. now.. and you yourself said you heard the noise when the car was stock how does that involve the springs? well eithery way just to tell ya i have the same problem mines from the back left side though especially over bumps..

hey guys,
my car makes that noise also. it started when i lowered my car and a have found out where it came from. mine comes from the back righthand side of the car and it comes from the shock. what i did was opened the boot and put pressure on the car by pushing it up and down on it till i found out where the noise was coming from.
try doing that, may be get a freind to help you locate the sound.

As i posted above.

The only thing in that area i can think of is the Trailing arm, which is connected to the shock. I dont know how the shock will squeek or rattle.

So check out yur bushings or proove me wrong :)

yes pornstar has checked it out and supsects it's the bushings too

wayne...it involves springs in the sense that it's now louder and much more frequent than before. i think it is also coupled with the hatch hook. have had my brothe drive my car and i've lay in the boot putting pressure on the bit where the hook is and it went away for a bit

but yeah it's shitting me to hell

Yay! A problem with an integra is a problem with an integra. Their almost all the same.

But its good you think you have figured out the problem. A lot of us just use the LOUD MUSIC treatment to ignore the sounds. But im the type of person who cant stand knowing something is wrong. I ordered some bushings from the US because they are a hell of a lot cheaper and probably better quality then Australian brands, but with the latch.. I cant find a permanent fix just yet. If you find one. Share it :)

hye man.. i get that too in my 91 LS integra.. i not sure what it is but its also coming from my boot.. i think its all the trim and interior shit.. but yeah.. not sure..

ive got the same problem with my gsi. i rekon its the springs. aftermarket springs go under alot of stress with standard shocks.

I know this might sound stupid but i had squeaky noise occuring whilst driving too. No matter what surface the road was on it was squeaking. Was a bitch. Newho a friend was driving my car and realised that it was seatbelt that was the perpetrator. The squeaking noise was so loud.. i never thought it came from the seatbelt. Anyway WD40 the bitch and no more squeaks!

integras squeak, thats just the way they are, I've found squeaks (and fixed most with a healthy dose of wd40) coming from (no joke) my rear bumper, my rear licence plate, the hangers from my muffler, loose bolt, etc etc, at the moment though its my exhaust system, scraping a few speed bumps has caused it to start to squeak at idle due to vibrations (pisses me off). Tegs man, rattle and squeak like a mofo

Yeh its d same wit ma beast it mostly happens wit me wen im changing gears or @ a stop wen its idleing!Its soooo annoyn i jst try over come it wit ma system!hahahaa but it frustrates ya lyk hell!
I thought it was ma xhaust tip rattling on d bottom n top of ma bak kit, so i put sum rubber on each end but it ended up still rattling lyk a noise biat*h
If ne1 finds out anything @ all 2 fix it jst holla asap!

guys i have an exact same problem!!!!!! its the most annoying thing in the world, playin the system does the job!

i fixed my problem by taking out all the metal clips holding the boot together! dont worry, nothing falls apart hehe :)

I just got a 98 VTI-R and have been experiencing these weird squeeks too! It seems to be coming from the back like everyone else's teggy. I've a feeling mines coming from the outside as with the windows and sunroof shut, becomes inaudible. Also, mine gets louder as you go faster with either the windows just slightly down or sunroof open. OR, could it be the safety belts having some turbulence with the windows down? LOL!

Don't forget that it may be your parcel shelf as well that squeaks...bad problem I used to have in the civic. I have the squeaks as well in my teg, but just turn the music up.... 5 years on sydney roads tends to do that....

the main rattle is my exhaust bumping the Lower Control Arms every now and then from the suspension.
