In front of 263,000 spectators, the 24 Hours of Le Mans finished once again with a win by Audi, the thirteenth! For the thirteenth time, team Treluyer/Lotterer/Fässlercrossed the arrival line first, after a race where difficulties spared none of the teams and where the few sudden downpours caused some accidents and retirements. The Toyotas did well, one of them keeping the lead for 14 hours, before falling back due to electrical problems. Meanwhile, Porsche made its big return to the top category. Its two 919 Hybrids showed excellent performances but suffered major mechanical trouble at the end of the race.

Unforeseen incidents were not lacking either in LMP2 where the Motul (http://www.motul.com/) teams climbed the two highest steps of the podium: a win for Jota Sport, with Dolan, Tincknell and Turvey, and second place for Thiriet by TDS Racing, which had secured pole position in its category with the brand new Ligier JSP2. These two carswere fitted with a Nissan engine developed in Japan in partnership with Motul.

Among the other Motul teams, KCMG’s retirement did not diminish the excellent performance of their car which had pushed forward remarkably before breaking an axle drive shaft.

All in all, Motul enjoyed enormous success last weekend. The grand parade on Friday was a huge hit boosted by the Motul-liveried old bus with six hostesses in front, which drove past over 150,000 spectators. During the event, the brand was clearly visible in the ‘raccordement corner’ and, what’s more, 56 grid girls wearing Motul’s colours were present on the starting grid.

The next FIA WEC event will take place on 20 September on the Circuit of the Americas, USA.
