I bought my jazz 1.5 ex (2013) last year in august and the first mod I did was to change the original wheels (185/55/16) to 185/60/15 .the original wheels are a bit of a odd size and also priced higher(R2000) that's around $aus 20000 per tyre.what I have noticed is that with the 15 inch wheels the car has better accelleration and also fuel economy .. I got my best of 4.8 litres per 100km(about 20km per litre) I covered 207 km with just over 10 litres of 95 octane Shell fuel.this was achieved driving 100kmph mostly and there were a few downhills that I just let it roll I 5th.I think that this is one of the best ways to achieve better accelleration times than all those cold intakes etc .I would like to know what stock 1.5 manual jazz's get down the 1/4 mile .if anyone has that info I would appreciate it.Even when my car has 4 adults plus me it goes up hills effortlessly and leaves even 2litre cars behind.I love this car

Driving a jazz must make you feel like everyone is racing you.

Its the sound of the L15A drowning everything else out to make it feel like you're pushing that extra bit to win...

If you read temple of VTEC asia article on the jazz you will see the graphs about 0-100 and quarter mile times you will be amazed what the 1.5 vtec can do . Yes the jazz won't outrun the 2l civic but at least it keeps up with it right up to about 160kph and the civic won't shake it off its tail, just pull a bit ahead since it has a superior 2litre engine.BTW the jazz 1.5 runs a quarter mile time of 16.3 seconds.its on this site aswell.I know I will get responses like its slow bla bla bla , but look at NA times of 1.6, 1.8, 2l cars . The jazz here in South Africa beat all the cars in its class (car mag SA). Its not a sports car but don't underestimate it . Many testesters were surprised.

Well it won car of the year in japan 4 times consecutively , it also won car of the year in south africa as well and many other small car awards in other countries. It also became japans top selling car knocking toyota out of that position which it held for 32 years with the corolla (I also love toyotas). I am not saying other hondas aren't better it just depends on peoples taste.hondas are one of the most reliable cars in the world ranking 1st on JD power reliability surveys.every year there will allways be japanese cars in the top ten most reliable cars.

What is the point of this thread anyway?
Car of the year doesn't mean stuff all. the CRZ won some award before. That doesn't say much.
Best seller in japan? Ever wonder why?
Always challenge big claims..

Best seller in japan? Ever wonder why?
Always challenge big claims..are you trying to say its a biased result? like best motoring challenges against euro cars?

So did the FTO... In 1994...
I can think of plenty 1.6L - 2.0L NA that would walk a Jazz...
Are you trying to argue reliability, sales figures or performance?

I consider the S2000 to be awesome car in terms of outright performance. It made the highest kw per litre more than any other normaly aspirated car in the world. 178 kw iirc from 2 litres. The OPC makes about the same with a turbo and also runs in the 14s same as the S2000.I would buy one if finance allows.

Definitely not sales figures , here in SA vw and toyota are top sellers. In terms of engine size(1.5) it produces 88 kw. Which puts it in the league of 1.6 and 1.8 NA cars. This is because honda used advanced engineering tech in this car ,some of it borrowed from the early type R and some of it world first like the special piston skirt pattern and molydebnum coating (spelling ?)To teduce friction.why do you think the S2000 produced so much power from its NA 2litre.,its because of hondas amazing engineering. The jazz is not a race car though. If I wanted more power I would have bought a type R , if I wanted something more faster then I would go for nissan GTR. And even more faster a bugatti (worlds fastest) so no one can argue with me. For now the the jazz is just right .

Should I buy a Jazz?
It all depends what you want out of a car.its a moms taxi here in South Africa and in UK its mostly owned by senior citezens. As for me I'm a 40 year old male married with no kids and we love long drives. I had a mazda 323 1.3 and it struggled up hills on the. Way to the Drakensberg ,so I got the jazz which runs up those hills effortlessly. It also a good vehicle for our month end grocery shopping (lots of space) I once fitted a quad bike in it with ease. As for you , you can research this car on the net. There are too many other cars to choose from , the jazz was the one for me. I'm a mechanic and also build and tune cars for drag racing.I was impressed with the jazz engine's technology since I'm a mechanic I understood all that was said about the L15a I-vtec engine on:Temple of vtec asia .Go google it there is a nice write up on thejazz and its engine.

if I wanted something more faster
If you wanted something faster pretty much any new car in existence would be a faster car. The jazz is not a performance car in any way or form.
For now the the jazz is just right
Thats all that matters. A jazz is a great little car - had one myself for 4 years.
