I took my 2011 Accord Euro Lux to dealership to inspect rubber strip along the edge of the window which was melting -the part is called belt moulding, its the chrome strip running horizontal at base of window.
The dealership provided me warranty bulletin from Honda which stated that this was caused by cleaning agents or solvents most likely used at body repair shops. I did take my car in January for a very small dent in the bootlid and have spoken to the bodyshop since who claim they have never heard of this before and didn't even go near the windows and used products used on all other cars.
Has anyone got any experience with this issue? I would have thought one could reasonably expect car mouldings to withstand cleaning agents designed for cars used by professionals. It says more about the quality of the moulding and wonder why this shouldn't be a product recall. The fact that a bulletin has gone out suggests this is more than an isolated issue.
Opinions/thoughts? Do I pursue Honda Australia or the dealership?
