Hey guys, so i have a 95 vtir, and a couple days ago, it just wouldnt start. the engine turns when i turn the key, but it doesn't actually start.
called the racv guy and he said it was the fuel pump, and there was nothing he could do at that stage; so i ended up getting my car towed home.
Now, before i go and buy a fuel pump, is there a way to determine whether that is actually the problem?
cheers

crank no start or
no crank no start
engine need fuel, compression and spark. start from those areas and narrow it down.

most likely it is fuel pump fairly easy to change about a 10min job but before you go buy one, confirm that it is the pump and not a fuse or something, check if it primes upon turning the key

ah sweet. forgive my ignorance, but what do you mean by "check if it primes"?
so there's no chance i can change the fuel pump myself, since im noob with cars. how much would a replacement pump cost me? and how much should i be looking at if i take it to the garage (just so i don't get over-charged)?
thanks mate

when you turn the car "ON" (cluster lights up), you should hear an electrical humming sound for a few seconds

could be the main relay
does the engine lamp go out after it primes ? while it is priming can you hear the fuel pump making noise from the back seat area ?
