View Full Version : My 2006 euro lux written off :(

So my wife was driving the euro a few weeks back, when some moron in a tarago decided to try and beat traffic into a side road, and swerved across her. Head on smack at around 60kmh and the tarago was on its side.

At least now we know the car wasn't one affected by the airbag recall, as all front and curtain airbags went off. Few minor bruises and very shaken, but so far (touch wood) no long term ill effects.

Car went to the salvage auction last week, no idea how much it sold for - insurance company offered to sell the wreck to me for $2500 but not really a fixer-upper since it's a stat writeoff. Such a shame as the car was immaculate... well except for the sh!thouse honda milano pink paint.

And just to finish off, testing my luck here I know, but is anyone interested in swapping their (auto) 06+ euro lux for my manual 2003 wrx (in victoria?) Wife wants another euro and pushing me to sell my weekend car :thumbdwn:

Sorry to hear bruh

No chance of using the insu money to buy another euro?

Then you get to keep your weekender!

look on the bright side

1. you dont have to deal with a pink car in a few years
2. no one's seriously injured

nope, already picked up a cx5 grand touring few days ago to replace the euro - ironic i optioned it with a towbar, for future towing of my wrx when i strip it out. I've had plenty of hondas in the last 18 years but I gotta say mazda is killing honda in terms of design and interiors nowadays. anyway will be on the lookout for probably a cu2 lux as there's plenty on the market - saw a 2010 cu2 lux nav going for 15k with slightly high km, but still a bit of a bargain!

Haven't actually driven a CU2 yet - objectively, how much longer/wider/heavier is it? If it's significant then my wife won't want to drive it.

According to redbook
The cu2 is almost 150kgs heavier
cu2 is almost 10cm longer
cu2 is almost 8cm wider
And the cu2 only puts out an extra 8kw and 8nm of torque

Get your wife to drive a CU2.
Its way more modern than her old CL9,and just as easy to drive...probably slightly quitter and smoother as well...

Most chicks don't like massive cars

I'd go CL9 over CU2 all day everyday

Yep I quite like the lexus, quite a few in my extended family and they're great cars. Haven't depreciated enough to make it into consideration yet.

Now got my wrx (she can't/won't learn to drive stick), slk (having a few running/reliability issues with it right now) and the cx5 (she's a bit scared driving it because it's brand new) so I'm trying to decide what to do, or if to sell/trade my wrx :thumbdwn:. Don't really want to be paying rego/insurance on 4 cars with just 2 of us driving them.

Funny thing is my wife says she wants something high quality and reliable, and nek minnit she says she likes the looks of a golf, or an Audi a3, or a mini . I had an Audi a4 avant s-line, biggest pos/money pit in the world :thumbdwn::thumbdwn:

What was wrong with your A4? I might want to get an A5 but I'm scared of that VAG tech.

Lol.. Scared of vag :p

Let's see... Coil packs, window regulators, oil pickup, oil sump, cooling system, aircon, glove box broke. Kept the pos 10 months and got rid of it. At least it didn't have transmission problems being a manual 6 speed, but otherwise watch out for dsg/ s-tronic problems and especially in older cars the multitronic cvt is a time bomb. Or just google "common Audi problems".

I'd only buy an Audi brand new and get rid of it before the warranty expires, but that's just me. Useful if you're salary packaging or leasing, but wouldn't recommend owning one.

Yeah I know about the transmission problems that Audi suffers from (VW -.-) but was hoping it was ironed out in newer models. The milage/torque of the 3.0 TDI is so tempting though. Which year was yours?

When the time comes to let go of my CL9, I would probably get a WRX as Honda's line up kinda sucks
