04-07 Euros now affected as well. http://www.recalls.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/1070990
Called the dealer today to book in the service before they are swamped, they knew nothing about it lol. I guess I will wait a few days and call back.

Not sure if my 2006 Euro is affected...
According to
http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Vehicle_Identification_Numbers_(VIN_codes)/Honda/VIN_Codes
http://www.vindecoderz.com/EN/Honda
(ps. these are the 2006 ranges only!)
My 2006 Euro's VIN: JHMCL9 5306C 207xxx
Recall is FROM: JHMCL9 6306C 200228
Recall is TO: JHMCL9 5806C 222673
5 = Body type and transmission
3 = Grade
0 = Check grade
6 = Year
C = Plant
Question 1. Why does the recall start at a higher VIN code JHMCL9 6306C and go down to JHMCL9 5806C (63 is higher than 58)
Question 2. I assume we just ignore the middle part of the VIN altogether, and just focus on the last 6 serial digits. If that is the case, then my VIN is in-between:
200228 Recall Start
207xxx My Euro <<< in between!
222673 Recall End
Therefore my Euro IS affected, correct?
( by the way, just realised it is the passengers front airbag, not the drivers thankfully )

Correct you want the last 6. If you look at the codes you'll see that for 2006 its 200228-222673 if your vin is between this you need a replacement.

Thought so, thanks for clarifying.
Passengers can jump in the back for the meantime unless they dont mind random shrapnel busting through their left eye (happened to some dude in the US).

Are you sure? mine is 203738 and when i called my dealer with it, they claim that I am no affected (also 06 Euro Lux)
EDIT: just called Honda Aus head office and they have also confirmed that mine isn't yet recalled but they are awaiting Honda Japan for any more being affected

Same, dealer had no idea about the recall when it was first announced the other day. Called Honda today to confirm my postal address and they said my vehicle is not affected (although it is in the range of VINs), but Honda Japan has to provide updates.
What a shitstorm, it will take years to replace all these airbag modules. I just have to cross fingers that I haven't got anything wrong with mine because I almost always have a passenger in the car.
(Compared to the number of affected vehicles that would have been in bad accidents to date, not that many have been made worse by a dodgy airbag - so there is a little hope.)

Just back from Rosebery Honda dealer And confirm my postol address. They have confirmed my 2006 lux is within range of recall but still need time to confirm which one was affected ! Right now I would just drive my wrx :( . Maybe I shd wear a helmet when driving the euro for repair.

By people having the juggular ripped open on a car accident when the airbag deploys
There have been a few fatalities in the USA

The whole situation stinks of a cover up by Takata.
Having said that, the nature of the problem is something that develops over time due to moisture ingress so it wouldn't be immediately obvious in lab testing.

It's not a replacement of the airbag itself, it's the inflator canister.
Time will really depend on the model of car and how easy it is to access the inflator.
At work I can do a corolla in 20 mins, which involves removing the whole dash.
Contact your local dealer (if your VIN is within the range) and they should be able to give you a specific time allocation under their warranty procedures.
And if anybody has aftermarket ecu's, generally the battery will be disconnected because any form of voltage whilst dealing with the SRS system is touch and go. (Not sure if this affects the memory of the tune, just a heads up)

Yep, did a call today, and to my shock my VIN didnt come up in red with a RECALL next to it. =D
But that being said i asked anyway just incase, the guy said it would only take 20-30 mins to do, so just like you mentioned. =)

Scary stuff. Both my CRVs are affected as well as my old CL9.

Got mine done this week. Took about 3 hours. They did a 10 pt check too. But no wash :(

The local Honda mob have ordered the bits for mine, they'll contact me when they arrive, apparently.
The VIN on my 2008 CL9 is _________________
When I checked the letter 2008 YM Model From JHMCL9 6808C 200002 to JHMCL9 6908C 212612. Does that mean mine is not recalled?

You can only remove the airbag from the bottom - in this case the globe box needs to be removed lol
