Transporting engine on its side?

Is it okay to transport an engine on its side? I don't see why I couldn't.
(will be drained of all fluids of course).

Only doing so because it won't fit in the car I have standing up.

I dont see why not either. But be careful not to put pressure or weight on areas of the motor that's not designed to support weight.. IE intake manifold etc etc.

With all fluids drained its fine. Be careful of the intake manifold sensors like TPS, IAT, EACV if you lay it down on the intake side.
