Hey guys just wondering for any guys who have decks installed into their 200 civics because im installing a deck in a friends car. I got info from installdoctor.com but i was wondering did you guys get wiring harnesses so you didnt have to cut your original wiring? or did you just splice into your original wiring.
Thanks

aerpro make harness adaptors for some brands (depends on the brand and model of deck you have) most automotive chain stores have them (autobarn/repco etc) some car audio specialist dealers keep them as well .....
even if you can't get the right adaptor for your headunit , if you get the right one for the car (with whatever on the other end) you can make your own harness adaptor by cutting the unusable harness plug off it and joining it to the new harness that came with the new cd player ... aerpro harnesses have desciptions written on each wire to tell you what wire to join them to on the cd harness ....
try not to touch the original wiring as it makes it easier to put the original deck back in (if they sell the car) and you won't have to worry about test probing the wrong wire and destroying the computer or setting off airbags etc....
have fun :)
When you consider that the adaptors (we sell em here) cost around $50 for something like an Alpine it is often easier to simply cut and wires and solder them like this (http://www.fastfoursforumscarclub.com/temp/fhrxstudios/photogallery_int.asp#interest1). :D
When you're selling the car, we simply de-solder the aftermarket loom and re-solder your old one back in for you. :)

for my install i just soldered onto factory wiring and put tape over. looks neat and is easy as..
The main issue with electrical tape is that after a few months it loses it stickiness and begins moving up and down the line. That is why we use heat shrink; once it cools down it goes hard and conforms to the soldered joint underneath. :)
